Happy Thursday to you, and Happy #46 to us! In some previous life I was 21 years old... a few years have passed since then, lol!
Our actual anniversary is January 9th.
Back then it was 1-9-76, so easy to remember!
We celebrated by actually going out for dinner at one of our favorite downtown restaurants, Henry's Pub. Cheers!
Speaking of previous lives, my book club read and discussed (by Zoom again due to the crazy Covid numbers around here) this fascinating book. The premise of the story is that there are all kinds of alternate lives you could be leading depending on the choices you might have made at any given time. (Like where you went to college or what profession you pursued or who you chose to date or marry.) And each of those lives comes with possible happiness and sadness. It's a fiction story with the main character learning about her possible alternate lives in the Midnight Library.
I've been having fun piecing a backing for the little scrappy quilt I'm working on right now. If you want to see the top, check out my Tuesday post. I used a few leftover blocks from the top, plus some yardage I had and a few other bits to make it big enough. It's practically going to be a two-sided quilt!
This cracked me up the other day!
This was my house - I always read the Wheat Chex box.
Still eat Wheat Chex every morning for breakfast, too!
Thanks for visiting on "I Like Thursday!" Be sure to check out all the positive posts at Not Afraid of Color.
Mike’s hair in ‘76 reminds me of my ex’s hair in ‘74 when we got married (only Scott’s was wavy brown and long). Cute pic! We love Wheat Chex too! I even have a bowl with my name on it that my mom ordered from Ralston-Purina (the then-makers of Chex). It was a red gingham pattern. Never goes out of style, LOL.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary, you two!!
ReplyDeleteYes, we read the cereal boxes! Happy Anniversary
ReplyDeleteOMG I forgot about Wheat Chex! I loved it too! That meme cracked me up! Happy Anniversary to you and your wonderful hubs! Glad you are doing zoom meetings...it's nuts with covid around here too! Sending hugs and good wishes!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary - got just a couple years on you - it is fun seeing what we wore back then for weddings - mine was quite simple a dash to the courthouse in a mini and Mike in jeans. The book sounds interesting and yes I remember reading cereal boxes - it seems like they even put some interesting facts or puzzles maybe on the back of some of them - now of course kids have their phones and wouldn't be interested in the back of a cereal box!
ReplyDeleteI love that wedding photo of you both! Cereal boxes used to be a lot more entertaining. Our book club had that book last year. I liked the premise, but didn't get all the way through to the end. There was something just "not quite right" about it. Maybe if I had read to the end it would make more sense. I'd like to hear your response.
ReplyDeleteWe married in 1976 too, but at the end of the year. Great photo, Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your long-running marriage!!! Happy photo!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! If my dad hadn't been hurt in a farm accident which made us move to town, I most likely wouldn't have met my hubby. It was hard for my dad but he adjusted and life took a turn and it wasn't all bad.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! So many morning breakfasts spent reading the back of cereal boxes, or trying to get to the bottom of the box for the prize. Good memories! Love that quilt back, too! Thanks for the book suggestion - sounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. Glad you got to celebrate. Cute meme.

I love your wedding photo! Our wedding was the next year, and I was 21, so I must be a year older than you! Our kids have always laughed when I tell them their dad's hair was down to his collar and he wore necklaces, lol! Those were the days, eh! Happy Anniversary.
ReplyDeleteA very happy anniversary to you! Love all the hair! Ha, ha! Hubby and I were also married in 1976...must've been a great year!
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed...I do fondly remember reading cereal boxes! :)
you two are a great couple... working and laughing and loving together. Love the pic, takes me back to high school years... and I read cereal boxes too
ReplyDeleteHappy happy anniversary. I wish both of you the most wonderful day and celebration. Fabulous photo. Your backing for your Easy Breezy quilt is so pretty. I love the cheerful yellow. Have a great weekend. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Looks like an awesome dinner out. I loved The Midnight Library, it gave you a lot to think about.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! (And great dress!) I almost never got to read the cereal boxes because of my brothers and sisters, so I usually went with toast. And a good book before school, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Diann! Happy Anniversary to you and Mike. It seems like it was just yesterday in some aspects, doesn't it?! Hmm, I'm going to have to check out that book. It sounds interesting! HAHA! I was definitely guilty of reading the cereal box. Although I was a chatterbox so I was probably talking my Mom's ear off before she left for work. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! We are only a couple years behind you so the hairstyles are pretty much the same. Midnight Library is on my library list. It sounded so good wherever it was that I first heart of it ... maybe from Carole @ My Carolina Mountain? Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! I just got The Midnight Library - just a few books ahead of it to read. I'm looking forward to it. Ha! I remember reading the cereal boxes! That's a blast from the past.
ReplyDeleteA very Happy Anniversary! Congrats! Glad you were able to have a dinner out! I love Wheat Chex also. In the breakfast bowl and in Chex Mix! :). I’m putting that book on my list. Wish I could find a book club that actually wanted to discuss books, instead of politics! Have you read a cereal box lately? haha!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! How cute - 1-9-76! :) Love your pieced backing! I read The Midnight Library and loved it so much that it earned a permanent spot on my bookshelves. I'm purging them, so that's saying something. Yes, reading the cereal boxes...memories! :)
ReplyDeleteit is hard to believe I was ever that young, too - happy anniversary
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh look at those fresh young faces! Your little quilt is pretty with those stunning colours. Very interesting premise for a book!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Diann. 46 is definitely a reason to celebrate. You look lovely but I am sorry I could not take my eyes away from the groom's hair!!! Stupendous!!!
ReplyDeleteMidnight Library has a premise similar to a book I just listened to by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It is "Maybe in Another Life". Have a great Sunday!
