This little finish has been a long time coming, but I can't tell you why. In June of 2019, I made some of Preeti's International Sisters and turned them into a mini quilt, here. Then, sometime in 2020, Preeti posted the cutting directions for a little sister block that finishes at 8 inches, and I made 4 of them!
This photo is from September of 2020.
Somewhere along the way, I sewed the four sisters together, and
then they sat again for a long while more!
A week ago, I felt the need for a quick and satisfying finish, so I cut a piece of batting and a backing and did some quilting!
A square spiral worked really well for this block design.
The backing is the same batik as the top sister, and the binding is some Kona Aruba. I'm loving the aqua and red together!
Several favorite scraps made perfect dresses and headdresses for these little sisters. I'm not sure where I'll hang these little ladies in my house yet, but they did enjoy hanging out together under the apple tree!

I love the aqua and red together too! It's a wonderful piece and your quilting choice is perfect! Keeping you in my thoughts as mom heals! Sending you hugs!

ReplyDeletePretty block, and isn't it satisfying to finish a UFO and especially one that has favorite scraps. Maybe you should name it "The Silent Sister(s)" after the book you mentioned in your previous post - lol!
ReplyDeleteOh those little gals are just darling!!
ReplyDeletethat turned out really pretty and the quilting suits it perfectly
ReplyDeleteReally cute. I love how this turned out.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! You're right about the aqua and red combo - love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cute little quilt! The colors look great together.
ReplyDeleteJoy is under the apple tree!!! Love this little gem of a quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis little quilt is as darling as can be. I love it and fabulous colors used in mini quilt . Well done. Hope you have a fabulous weekend and happy quilting.
ReplyDeletecute cute cute! Love your little sisters little finish! the quilting fits the piece perfectly!
ReplyDeleteAdorable little piece! I really love, love, love the quilting you did on it! If I was one of these little sisters, I'd want to be one of the red ones. The quilting lines are a little more vertical so I'd look taller & slimmer. The turquoise sisters' dresses have quilting lines going horizontal and they look a bit more "healthy" ... actually more like me than the red ones but I can dream! Hahaha! Great finish!
ReplyDeleteFantastic finish, Diann! I, too, love the red and aqua! I need to remember Kona Aruba! I need to make Little Sisters block or two! Good job!
ReplyDeleteLovely ladies, you are right on mixing aqua and red, it's really beautiful ❤️
ReplyDeleteThis one is a winner all the way around. The quilting was a perfect choice and the aqua and red combo inspired. I guess I forgot that Preeti resized the block. I hesitated to make the original because the block was so big and I really didn't need anther large quilt. I need to go back and check out the smaller block.

ReplyDeletePretty finish, Diann! It is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe red and the aqua are terrific together! Your finished sisters are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGreat finish. I like that red and turquoise together too. And what a great quilting job on both sisters tops. I think they need to hang close to each other.
ReplyDeleteHi Diann, that's a great quick finish. Maybe that's why we unconsciously have UFOs :-) I hope you'll take the time to link up to Free Motion Mavericks and share the joy! Take care.
ReplyDeletePerfect Finish!!! it is so cute and all the colors make it so happy!
