Happy Thursday, friends! It's been a fast week since my last I Like Thursday post, and I'm not sure where the time has gone. I didn't take a lot of photos, but I do have a few things to share.
Something I love about the apartment complex where my mom lives is their beautiful landscaping. Mike brought his camera along the other day and took some photos while I ran up to check with my mom about something.
Pretty zinnias!
And Black-eyed Susans, too.
Colorado peaches are coming into season now, and the roadside stand where I like to buy them was open the other day.
So yummy!
I took a little roadtrip up to Laramie, Wyoming, with a friend yesterday, and one of our stops was a quilt shop. (Of course!) I bought a few quarter yards of reds and low volume fabrics for my Positivity quilt. But I had to take a picture of this Quilt of Valor that was hanging on the wall. It includes the veteran's photographs from when he was in Vietnam and of his friends.
I need to learn how to print photos onto fabric so I
can make something like this for Mike!
I read another Elin Hilderbrand book this week. She's becoming a favorite author lately. This one takes place on Nantucket again, and even has a bit of a mystery!
Hope you're having a great week! I'm joining in with LeeAnna and friends at Not Afraid of Color for I like Thursday.
That is an awesome veteran's quilt! I have an Elin Hilderbrand book on my library hold list. So many friends have recommended her.
ReplyDeleteZinnias are still a favorite of mine, so why didn't I plant any this year!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have read that book but I have read some of hers. Love all the flowers - you drove a bit south we have been in the Laramie area quite a few times over the years and north of there to the Fort - sometimes it has been really hot when we have stopped in the area
ReplyDeleteWow! Cool you took a road trip to Laramie! Hope you found some goodies! I have a panel, similar to that one. I want to do it for our son. I keep gathering fabric for the surrounding stars. All in my head, as of yet! I’ve never planted zinnias or dahlia. Maybe next year! They are such great bloomers!
ReplyDeleteNeat quilt of Valor and the Zinnias are just wow. I have had a hankering for peaches lately.
ReplyDeleteMy zinnias are just starting to bud. I'm hoping for flowers soon! Those are beautiful. Yay for peaches! I have not had much luck printing photos to fabric (the process is easy - but the color is always wrong!).
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad there are pretty flowers around your mom's apartment - that just makes it more welcoming and like home! What a fantastic Quilt of Valor, and yay for a stop at a quilt shop! I think you've had a good week!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how many times I've bought zinnia seeds and then never planted them. And they are so easy to grow. Yum for fresh peaches. I think ours are a few weeks out yet. Early August usually. That QOV is quite impressive.

printing is easy if you are just printing something lettersized. I use a variety of prepared sheets available at joann.
ReplyDeleteSpoonflower prints larger work...
I LOVE Elin H. and am ready to get back to her books.
LeeAnna
hey, Diann, where is the fruit stand in Loveland. Nothing here in Greeley yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharon
Hi,
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful. And those peaches look
yummy. The quilt you shared is awesome. Lots of
love went into that one. Have a great day!
Just wow on that quilt! So nice to be out and about with friends and also a quilt shop! Pretty zinnias and fresh peaches are the best.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you plan to do with those yummy peaches? Hope your Mom is adjusting well. Those zinnias are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like pretty, flowery landscaping to pep up the spirit! My black-eyed susies are in full bloom and return year after year. Every few years I plant zinnias because I love them. The other years are whatever strikes my fancy -- big, fluffy marigolds, medium-sized sunflowers, whatever strikes my fancy and is EASY! Looking forward to seeing what you make with your peaches!
