Back in January, when blogging friends introduced the Stay at Home Round Robin, I thought it sounded like a fun QAL to join in with, and it has been! I began with a half yard bundle called "Matchmade" by Pat Bravo for Art Gallery Fabrics, and made a sawtooth star block - one of my favorite blocks to make.
Each week, one of our QAL hosts decided on a type of block to make for a border.
Week 1: Piano Keys
Week 2: Plus Blocks
Can you see mine? They're in the corners, connected by strip sets.
Week 3: Flying Geese
Week 4: Checkerboards
Week 5: Wonky Stars
Which I combined with Week 6: Log Cabin Blocks
Week 7: Pinwheels
Almost there!
And my finished Stay at Home Round Robin!
41x43
The pieced backing:
I quilted this with an angled crosshatch that creates
a sort of slanted diamonds design. I like it a lot and
will be using it again!
I did order an additional yard of the aqua with pluses, to use for the binding, and it ended up on the back, too. But, here are all the scraps that are left after finishing - not much!
This quilt will be a birthday gift for my mother-in-law. It's just the right size for covering her lap and legs, like a wheelchair quilt. We'll be delivering it to her today (Friday)- our first in-person visit after the year of Covid. I'm sure looking forward to seeing her!
Thanks so much to Gail at Quilting Gail for coming up with the
Stay at Home Round Robin idea!

This came together so beautifully--it was a lot of fun watching you do the add-ons for each border and seeing your thought process.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing your journey;))) hugs, Julierose
It's been such fun to watch how everyone interrupts the prompts for the SAHRR. Your version is one of my favorites. The colors are just so fun. Your MIL will certainly enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThis came out great! I seem to have stopped after the first round. Love how your's came out. So exciting you are able to visit her today. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteYou were so creative in your interpretation of each clue! I was being too literal and the size of my quilt was getting out of hand. I stole your log cabin corner idea for another quilt.
ReplyDeleteFantastic finish Diann! I like seeing your steps and the balance you maintained for each prompt. Love that quilting. How great you get to present it in person to your MIL!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt turned out great! Enjoy your visit.
ReplyDeleteI bet your gift will be much appreciated and she will enjoy seeing you both. It was fun to follow along on your quilt making

ReplyDeleteI don't often get to see the progress someone makes with fabric from my shop so this was a special treat for me. It is beautiful and wow, you used every bit of it, didn't you!?! Have a lovely, long overdue, visit.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing up your SAHRR quilt, Diann! Enjoy today's visit with your MIL. She's going to LOVE her new quilt!!
ReplyDeleteNot only will you be seeing your MIL after a year-long interlude, but you'll come bearing gifts. I'm sure she will be pleased with both your visit and the quilt. Always helps to have a destination to get these QAL projects to the finish line. It was amazing to see all the different ways the participants approached this challenge.
