Happy Thursday, friends! Hope you're having a good week. I was so happy to see my tulips blooming the other day. After really cold weather and snow the week before, I was afraid they were frozen.
Speaking of pink, I love my mom's pink bedroom in her new apartment! The quilt on the end of the bed is one I made a few years ago and haven't used much, so I gave it to Mom. I think it's perfect for her colors there!
Here's my mom in the living room of her apartment. My brother-in-law made those beautiful stained glass windows for my mom and dad years ago, and they've hung in every house Mom has lived in since then. So, that was almost the first thing he hung up for her when we were moving her in.
I love my reading friends, both those here in town and all of you in blogland because I always get the best book recommendations from all of you! I just finished this one, recommended by Carole of From My Carolina Home.
I enjoyed this story of three women who have decided to buy and restore an old farmhouse in Virginia, and all their ups and downs. This is the second in the series, and I wasn't able to find the first book, but that didn't matter. This has been the perfect relaxing read for the busy days of the last week or so. I'll definitely look for the next book!
Joining in with LeeAnna and friends at Not Afraid of Color for I like Thursday.

ReplyDeleteI'll enjoy seeing your blocks for Sandra's quilt along, Diann. I had to avert my eyes...just can't be influenced to join in...LOL
And your mom was able to snag a ground floor apartment, how nice that she can just walk right outside on those upcoming nice days! Umm, that looks like a quilt ladder in need of some quilts!!
ReplyDeleteI noticed too, that your mom’s apartment is on the ground floor! That’s a great thing. I’m sure she’ll appreciate the quilt as she adjusts to the climate difference. Thanks for the book recommendation! I especially like the title!
ReplyDeleteYour mom's new place looks like it will suit her and she will get used it fast. I will look for the book I get some of the best book reads from blog friends!
ReplyDeleteYour Mom is so cute! Pretty quilt, pretty glass, and a nice view outside. I hope she grows to love it. Are those TV remotes I spy in her hands? 😁
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely your mama's daughter - I can see her in you! I'm glad she's getting settled in, with some lovely touches from her "kids". Her bedroom looks so fresh and nice, and your quilt really pulls the room together! Those stained glass windows are amazing, and I'm glad there was a place for them. Soon you'll be back to sewing and stitching!

Yay for tulips! I can see why you're quick to hang up those stained glass pieces - they're beautiful! It's good to hear your mother is settling in.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got your mom moved in and settled. Big job. That quilt looks perfect on her bed! We have daffodils just starting to bloom, which is a great reminder that even though spring is a bit slower to arrive in our mountains, it always comes!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your mother is settling in really well. Tulips are rare around here, it doesn't get cold enough in the winter for them. But the roses are blooming, with the late freeze I wasn't sure they would.
