To-Do Tuesday #51

Happy Tuesday!  I'm checking in today with my weekly to-do list and linking up with Roseanne and friends for the To-Do Tuesday linky party at Home Sewn By Us.

Last week's to-do list included:

Finishing up the 24 HSTs needed for the purple zigzag row.  This one is done!

These are ready to sew together, and that will go on the list for this coming week.

I also had planned to work on prepping my Tiny Rails quilt for quilting, and there was progress made on that job, although not a lot.  The biggest (possibly worst!) part of that job is cleaning up the little loose threads on the back - especially when you have a quilt top with as many little seams as this one has!

Still working on this!

I also made two new 6.5 inch neutral string blocks for the border of my diamond strings quilt.  I really intended to make more than that, but got distracted by other squirrelly projects and forgot about the string blocks until yesterday, lol!

Making these blocks will stay on my list for this week, too!

So, what did I get distracted by?  Well, these...

So fun to make!

And this...

I made these 10 inch color gradient blocks in 2019, and
hadn't been able to decide what to do with them.
Shopping in my LQS the other day, I purchased a yard of Kona Aloha,
and thought I might use it for sashing and borders to pull these blocks together.

It's been a week with some Quilter's A.D.D. going on, but it's all in good fun, right?!  Looks like my to-do list will continue from last week, while I keep playing with the newer projects, too!

  1. I have avoided trying Joy's magic triangles (or whatever it's called) because I know it will be addictive. They are so cute!

  2. I love all your colorful projects this week—those purple zigzag with the low volume make me want to start another squirrel project of my own. And the blocks with the tiny triangles (magic triangles?) are great—another enticement! I’m not good at all about clipping threads on the back of my quilt tops before quilting, but you will be happier with the finished quilt since you’re taking the time to do so. All in all—what a super productive week! Take care, Mary.

  4. Your projects made me smile this week! I love the gradient blocks and those odd triangles on the other block. I don't remember seeing that pattern before! Have a wonderful day Diann!

  7. Ooh, the Kona Aloha! So tropical! So summery! I agree with the trimming threads! Not my favorite chore. I have a friend who uses a lint roller on her table. As she trims, the thread get attached to the sticky and then in the trash. Less mess on your work surface, and no stray threads jumping back on your project,

  8. Fun distractions, and I love the Kona Aloha fabric with those blocks! I've had my nose to the grindstone and nothing to show for it, so no post today (okay, I forgot to be ready with a post, and seriously, I have nothing to show).

  9. Cleaning away all those stray threads - yes, time consuming! But worth it. I'm loving your projects. What is the name of the block that distracted you? It does look fun!

  10. Well, this just looks like a whole lot of FUN to me! Love your zigzags and your string blocks and your little "distraction" blocks -- I don't know the name of them but they sure are cute!

  13. I'm not very good with quilter's ADD--usually makes me feel too frazzled--but sometimes it is kinda fun to flit from one project to another! (As long as I can get a "finish" in there pretty quickly!). Good luck w/all of these fun projects!

  14. Well at least the quilters ADD only resulted in one new start, all the rest was progress on existing projects. Love the purple zigzag blocks. Purple is such a fun color to sew with. The teal really makes those gradient blocks pop. Very unexpected, but so pretty. Good luck this week's to do list.

  15. That is what we quilters do: 1. set goals, 2. get distracted from those goals and do something else.

The way I figure it, no matter. It is a craft that brings us happiness whether an old project or a new one.
