Happy Thanksgiving to all of my friends who are celebrating today!
We are not having the Thanksgiving we planned on...
because we got 19.8 inches of snow this week!
But there's still plenty to be thankful for.
Like that snowblower pictured above - it makes uncovering the driveway and sidewalks so much easier!
I'll be missing my sons this Thanksgiving, but I'm so thankful for Facetime and telephones and email - all the different ways we can connect with loved ones these days. I'm thankful to be warm and safe in my little house, as are my kids in their homes, with plenty to eat and do even though it's cold outside.
I'm thankful for so many good books to read, like this one that I finished on our snow day.
Such a good story about a young woman who is in a plane crash
and loses the use of her legs. We follow her through rehab and family relationships, of course, rooting for her all the way.
I'm thankful to be part of the quilty blogging community! Look who I had lunch with the other day -
Milo! Oh, and LeeAnna and Drew, too! :) We had a great time sitting out on the restaurant patio in the sun and talking about this and that. I'm thankful for our "I Like Thursday" community!
I'm thankful for fabric to play with, and lovely little free tutorials that you run across online and think, "I have to try that!"
from Blue Elephant Stitches
So much to be thankful for! My husband who makes me laugh daily, my sons who are interesting, hardworking, good guys, and family and friends near and far that I share life with.
Hope you're having a great week! Joining in with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color for I Like Thursday!
As usual great likes. 19 inches of snow? We are supposed to get hit again Saturday. Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, Faithful Reader. Sorry you had to change your plans, but glad you are safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteOMG so much snow but like you say you are all warm and healthy and no one is on the road trying to travel in that mess. So nice that the weather was nice and you were able to meet up with blogging buddy before the storm hit - hope LeeAnn got to where she was going!!
ReplyDeleteI will check the library for the book having 2 people in the family due to paralysis it really affects me.
Happy Thanksgiving! I thought we were going to get snow here in mid-Michigan today, but the weather report changed - and I'm not complaining!
ReplyDeleteOh, no, that's a lot of snow! I'm not ready for that much (but we may be getting some soon). Love your little four patches. Good things to be thankful for. :-)
ReplyDelete19 inches??? Oh my goodness. crazy weather. I'm glad everyone is home safe and sound. Those little four squares are adorable. Enjoy your day!

Happy Thanksgiving, Diann, to you and yours. You are making the best out of an unfortunate event. We have snow here too, but not as much as you had. Enjoy your day! Glad you were able to meet up with LeeAnna! What fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful you were not caught on the road in the storm, but able to stay snug at home (well, except for the outdoor work of dealing with all that snow). It's cool that you were able to get together with Milo, Leeanna and Drew.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful that, for once, our area escaped the brunt of all the storms. We had high winds, but just rain, although some snow is expected Sunday night. But we're staying put for the holiday, so no travel is necessary.
Enjoy your unexpected day at home and make sure you get some sewing done.
Pat
What a lovely post! So sorry about the snow--we were watching the snow accumulate out your way but I wasn't sure how much you had gotten. That is TOO MUCH SNOW! Glad you are safe and warm! Have a wonderful holiday! I'm so grateful for your friendship Diann! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDelete19 inches of snow??? Mindboggling....and you outside in your hat taking care of snow business...wow...very impressive.
ReplyDeleteHoly man, 20 inches of snow! As a Wisconsinite, that sounds both awesome and awful. When my kids were small they would have loved it, until we made them shovel the driveway. I'm grateful for the life we had there, and grateful for our new life in Maryland. Hope you have a cozy weekend even without traveling!
ReplyDeleteHi Diann! 19.8" of snow. Holy moly. I was thinking about you and wondering what your grand total was. I just adore the photo of Milo . . . and his peeps. How nice that you live close enough to get together, and before the big snow event. I'm sorry you missed spending time with your sons. I hope you had a fabulously Happy Thanksgiving in spite of that. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteYes....we ALL have something to be thankful for every day! :-) I'm thankful I can't find my bathroom scale this morning...I think not knowing the weight of what I ate yesterday might make today a bit more cheerful! lol! Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good decision not to travel! Glad you were able to make the best of it - sounds very cozy. We will celebrate on Saturday due to our kids' travel plans and in-law plans. :)
ReplyDeleteWe got hit, too, in the Sun Valley area. We made it over to Boise for our Thanksgiving celebration but have to return today with snowy roads and even more snow to deal with. Anywhere from 16-19 inches, from what we hear. Blech. Lots of travel woes this week. Glad you got to connect electronically with your family. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI can hear the enthusiasm in your voice, Diann, as I read this post. You are so right, we are so blessed especially for the children warm and comfortable in their homes. Did you mention this last year too? It is ringing a bell.
ReplyDeleteSnow, wow, we have rain and have lost all our snow. So strange. Love that photo of LeeAnna and hubby and Milo. Thanks for sharing that and your other thoughts as well. Thankful to have found you in this big wide world.
Happy Thanksgiving, Diann! I'm thankful for bloggy friends like you, who share the joys of life! :)
ReplyDeletewe are still sitting on so much snow it's hard for Milo to find a place to 'go" and for me to walk. I go up and down the same sidewalks. More today, if you can believe it. I'm not positive about it any more. Glad you had a good day, and you'll get to see your kids at Christmas betcha! Love, LeeAnna
