And then they started in on the weather reports.
We live in the area that says 12 - 22 inches! And we would be traveling up through the northeastern Colorado plains into Nebraska where predictions are very similar. And no matter where you look, the forecasters are saying the same thing. "High confidence! Impassible roads! Don't travel!" I say, "Darn it!" 😥
So now this week's to-do list is this:
1. Make sure there is plenty of gas for the snowblower! ✔
2. Stock up on food! ✔
3. Have plenty of good books and sewing projects on hand - no problem there! ✔
Okay, we're ready for the blizzard.
We are expecting company next Monday and Tuesday, so it won't be too hard to get the house ready since we'll be home all week, rather than out of town.
I did get some things done on last week's to-do list!
My Thanksgiving tablerunner is finished -
The Tiny Tuesday blocks are about 50% sewn together into a quilt top -
They are farther along than this picture shows.
And my Virtual Cookie Exchange Blog Hop project is finished. Just need to write up the post - I guess there will be plenty of time for that this week, so put it on the list!
The blog hop starts next Monday at Just Let Me Quilt. My day is Tuesday, December 3rd! I'm looking forward to enjoying all the bloggers who are participating.
Have a great week, friends! Hope yours is filled with family and friends, but not snow! Linking up with Roseanne at Home Sewn by Us for To-Do Tuesday.
Oh my, I hope you will be safe. Great progress with the Tiny Tuesday blocks, love the alternate layout, on point and not
ReplyDeleteHi Diann! The first thing that strikes me about that weather map is that there are only TWO colors. Either LOTS and LOTS of snow (pink) or just a normal amount (purple). Yikes! I think it is wise to skip the traveling during this storm, and 55 million others who will be out there. I love your list - stock up on food and gas for the snowblower. I'm an odd duck - a BIG storm like this makes me feel giddy. I love to watch it snow and snow and snow. We haven't had a huge storm like that for ages. Let me be clear - I am NOT complaining one bit. I just adore your Tiny blocks all together, and also your Thankful table runner. Stay safe! Thank you for linking up today, I wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteAs I have been hearing the forecast I was thinking of you and wondering how much you will get. We were wishing for none, but we'll take the 5-8 over your amount I guess! Be safe is the best route to take. I bet you get your tiny blocks all sewn into a top during the storm:)
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on your posts, and I LOVE your table runner in the last post! What a sweet project.
ReplyDeleteWhat a letdown about your trip. Will you try to go again another time? But there is something kinda fun about sheltering in and staying cozy during a blizzard.
I'm sorry you had to cancel your family holiday plans. But at least you can sew guilt-free during the storm, right? :)
ReplyDeleteI saw that weather map this morning and the news said part of the interstate was closed already! I knew your trip to Nebraska would be off and there you had cooked the turkey already. What a let down - but winter does through a curve ball now and then doesn't it. It happened to us one year for Christmas Melanie was only an hour away and couldn't come home because of ice and had to stay put. Hope you have a nice small thanksgiving at home instead
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer. These storms are going to disrupt a lot of holiday plans. Did you already cook the turkey? I guess you could freeze some for later so you don't get to sick of it. Make the best of it and get lots of sewing done. We're staying home alone and our forecast is for high winds and maybe some rain. It's 55 and sunny right now. Keep warm.

So sorry that you won't be able to be with your kids, but so glad you are not traveling in the storm. We know it's coming our way, and I'm ready to tuck in tonight and ride it out. Enjoy your extra sewing time. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
ReplyDeleteOh no! Prayers for safety and good heat! Oh, and are you sure you have enough fabric on hand?
ReplyDeleteWe're in the same predicament over here in Idaho. Supposed to get 14-18 inches of snow tonight through tomorrow, and they are advising folks to stay home. Since we are hosting a dinner for my in-laws and several of their elderly friends Thursday, we are heading out this afternoon, hopefully ahead of the storm. Why didn't the US celebrate Thanksgiving when we could all go camping and not have to worry about horrid travel conditions? Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Your blocks look great.
ReplyDeleteSorry you are missing your trip to visit your kids, but your alternative plans sound right on. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteBetter to be safe, that is a lot of snow! Have fun sewing this weekend!
ReplyDeleteSame here! We're expecting 2 feet. Kids are NOT coming up for Thanksgiving! We're all prepared for the blizzard, and just staying in and cozy. Stay safe and warm!
ReplyDeleteI’m glad that you’re being safe rather than sorry, but it’s sad that you have to miss out seeing the guys. We had family traveling in from Idaho, but they left (and arrived in town) early to avoid the storm. We are traveling down the road about 4 miles for Thanksgiving tomorrow - a simple almost-straight line with nary a hill, so we’re not too worried. And since 90% of my Christmas shopping is done, the freezer is stocked and I’ve been released to do as I please from the doctor, I see lots of sewing in my long weekend!! Happy Thanksgiving, Diann!
