To-Do Tuesday #4 - Hijacked by a Squirrel!

Okay, it was just a little squirrel, but I was still distracted by it!  And I have to blame it on Chris at ChrisKnitsSews and this post about her Sunflower Tablerunner.

So... I just *had to* cut up a few scraps,

sew them together like this,

and finish it off with a green border, some quilting, and binding!

This measures about 11 inches square.

All because I *needed* something exactly like this for the wall of minis in my sewing room!

Yep, I needed that one!

Meanwhile, I did get some other things accomplished from last week's list.

1. Quilting is still in progress for the Basket Quilt.

2.  Tiny Tuesday blocks all done for August! ✔

3/4.  Handwork projects for slow stitching: I finished my EPP tablerunner! ✔  More about that in my last post.

5.  Helping out a friend who had lots of family in town for a funeral.  ✔  It is always a good feeling to have done that!

So for this week -
1.  Really finish the Basket Quilt, lol!
2.  Get started playing in the purple scraps - the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for September is purple.
  • Sew up the Tiny Tuesday block whenever Angela posts one.  (Angela and family are in the midst of hurricane evacuation, so we'll all just be patient this week, and have positive thoughts for their safety!)
  • Make some purple string blocks similar to the light blue ones I made last week.

3/4. Hand stitching projects - work on blue and white hand-pieced blocks or trace more embroidery designs.

5.  Get the house ready to host my Book Club!  That means fire up Mr. Roomba and put him to work.

Plus, figure out a treat to serve to my book club friends, and (oh yeah) *Read the book!*

Hope everyone enjoyed the Labor Day holiday and is having a good start to your week!  I'm linking up with Roseanne at Home Sewn by Us for To-Do Tuesday.

And with Sandra at mmmquilts because I just saw that her DrEAMi link up is still open!

  6. Hi Diann! I can see exactly why you needed this little mini to add to your collection. And the fabrics you chose - just perfect!! You are about to pass on or hand off that squirrel, aren't you. I can see that I may need to make this as well . . . but I'm trying to be strong. Ooh, that EPP table runner looks so darn pretty in the center of your table. Nice job. Your book club hosting responsibilities sound like fun. I wonder what you're going to serve - and what's the book for this month? Thanks again for linking up. ~smile~ Roseanne

  7. Those wiley squirrels! But you were visited by an awfully cute one, and it looks grand on your lovely, bright mini quilt wall! I'm going to put earplugs in and blinders on to ward off the squirrels today, and try to clean and organize my sewing room a bit. We'll see how that goes! Haha.

  8. I love your mini sunflower!!! I am thinking I need to enlarge the pattern and make a pillow cover for my living room. Maybe I should add that to my weekly to-do?

  10. Gosh you have lots going on! Love the flower baskets!
    Your sunflower squirrel is gorgeous!
I have a “need” for such a mat too, don’t suppose you could let me know the measurements, or was it a purchased pattern maybe? I couldn’t see how to find the pattern from Chris’s blog. (Hope you don’t mind me asking)
    Hugs,
    Barbara xx

  15. It is your wall of creativity at least if not a Wall of Fame. Wall of minis is not an accurate description. Each on e is so pretty!!!

  17. Well I just love that sweet DrEAMi! and it is a perfect fit on your Wall of Minis. I hope to have one one of these days when the sewing room is finished. Doesn't the hexagon runner look good on your oak table? And I still haven't sewn any sashing on any of my TT blocks... Thank you for linking up!
