More with yellow...

I'm celebrating the month of yellow with some daffodils!  There aren't any growing in my garden this year, so instead I bought a bouquet at the grocery store earlier this week to bring home.  Such pretty yellow!

In the sewing room, my plan for the sixteen patch stars project is to make two every month, for a total of 20 at the end of the year.  It was easy to come up with enough yellow for one block, but I wasn't sure what to do for a second one that wasn't exactly the same as the first.  Then I saw Nancy's post about her March strippy quilts at Grace and Peace Quilting and had an "aha!" moment - I could pull out my sandy/golds for a second block!

These two piles turned into these blocks:

Here are my sixteen patch stars so far -

Now I need to figure out a second pink star.  Maybe this peach/coral group will work?  I'll play with them this weekend and see what happens!

  4. Nice yellows/golds! Sorry you don't have any daffodils, do you think the squirrels got them?

  8. I haven't cut any daffodils yet - I don't know why I do have plenty growing in my yard. Today we have a yellow dirty type of sky - wind has blown the dust storms from Texas and Oklahoma storms to us.

  10. Too early for daffodils in the part of the USA. But they are so pretty. My potato chip blocks could use some golds. I thought the same thing when looking at Nancy’s jelly roll race quilts.

  12. Nicely done! It is hard sometimes to get a 2nd block from the RSC color. How did you do during the storms Friday?

  14. Yes to the coral/peach! These remind me of your friendship star blocks with the colored squares that I copied a few years ago! I've used a couple in donation quilts & still have the rest to do something with & they are on my list of WIP's for this year! But now I want to make 16 patch stars!!
