Midweek Update

Yesterday, I made it to the quilt shop and brought home a cute backing fabric for my Joy project.  I love text fabric, and this one is perfect to go with the front of the wall-hanging.

Look at the fun selvage!

I had to piece the backing since the fabric is printed horizontally, and the Joy wall-hanging is a vertical piece, but that was pretty simple and now it is all ready to quilt!

Meanwhile, I've also been sewing my Rainbow Scrap Challenge split 9 blocks together into a quilt top.  This is moving right along because it's not a large quilt, and should end up about 45 x 54.

It's looking like I'll have more sewing time than I expected this week to keep working on these projects, because my husband just tested positive for Covid this afternoon - at this point he is not feeling terribly sick, mostly just cold-like symptoms.  So far I'm testing negative - hope it stays that way!

Linking up with Quiltfabrication for Midweek Makers.

  1. COVID is certainly making its rounds right now. My husband and I both had it two weeks ago and we have lots of friends who have had it or have it now. I hope you don’t get sick and also that your husband recovers quickly. That fabric is perfect for your joy wall hanging! So fun to see the Split 9’s come together into a quilt top.

  2. Perfect back for your little Christmas piece. I'm hoping the latest COVID boosters will keep us well this winter. Last year's bout left my front teeth very sensitive.

  3. Not the most fun way to increase you stitching time. Hopefully he doesn't feel too bad with it. Fingers crossed you don't come down with it too. Love the backing fabric for your wall hanging. Hope you get in lots of sewing time this week.

  4. Oh dear, hope your husband's symptoms stay mild and that you stay well. My only bout with Covid was in 2020, and it was very mild. And I have not had a booster, nor will I. I am not big on vaccinations - lol!
LOVE your Joy wall hanging, and that backing is soooo cute! Your split 9 quilt looks so pretty on your sewing table.
    Take care Diann, stay well.

  5. sorry your husband has covid - I hope you do not get it also. we had our boosters or do they just call them vaccinations now? back in September so far so good - I'd rather not get sick - not even a cold so I get the vaccinations for flu & covid and even RSV now

  6. And you guys have been getting your shots, but perhaps that is why your DH isn't totally miserable. Hope it stays that way and you avoid it.

  8. I hope you remain negative and I'm sorry that your husband has to deal with COVID. That isn't a nice way to "get" more sewing time!

  9. Covid will be with us forever -- societally speaking that is -- I hope your husband's case is mild and gone soon, and that you stay well. Selvedges have such fun messages these days, and that holiday print is a *joyful* addition to your project.

  16. Sorry to hear about hubby. We've learned how to separate when one of us gets Covid. Recently hubby was exposed (sat next to a man who came down with it the day after a choral practice!) But neither of us got it. I really like all of your projects... especially like your words backing fabric. It is perfect for your wall hanging. I'm impressed that you are working so hard on your RSC blocks. I will admit I have at least last year's blocks and of course the ones I did this year. Sigh. I think I know something I'll put on my UFO challenge for next year. I have enjoyed reading all your posts since 11/10.
