The chandelier blocks are a finished flimsy! Whoop, whoop!
36 x 45
Unfortunately, there had to be a little drama before all was said and done. I was just about to sew the last long seams when I discovered this:
Oh no, oh no, oh no!
Just what I didn't want to do - unsew several seams to get to that red block and turn it the correct direction. But I did, and everything is all better!
Next job is to get this one layered and ready for quilting which shouldn't be hard because it's baby sized. This will be a donation for Hands2Help, to one of the organizations that prefers smaller quilts.
I also wanted to at least make a few hourglass blocks for my Stay at Home Round Robin project, which is this week's border prompt over at ChrisKnits.
Just a few so far.
Tiny skiers paired with snowflakes - perfect!
I may just keep going with this idea of surrounding my center with the weekly block/border ideas, like this. This is a work in progress!

Oh my! there's always an irreverent block. lol
ReplyDeleteGlad you noticed it before finishing the flimsy.
Your SAHRR is looking good, smart idea!
Glad you caught the turned block before you got any further. The Chandelier quilt looks great. I like what you've got going on your SAHRR. I'm still making star blocks for my SAHRR, but have started on the hourglass blocks.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks great! Glad you saw that flipped block before you had sewn the last seam. I like your idea for the round robin. Looking great.
ReplyDeleteThere’s always one block in every quilt that doesn’t behave! Love your little hourglass blocks! These small blocks will make a great border!
ReplyDeletethat looks neat - isn't there always a spot that we end up finding and have to turn and sometimes we don't discover it until until we have already been staring at it for 50 days and pressed the whole darn thing and declare it finished.
ReplyDeleteIt might have been a pain to rip and put that block back into it's proper place, but aren't you so glad you didn't discover it after or during the quilting phase! I think it is a great idea not to add each border each week, now you will have freedom to execute a great idea in the end.
ReplyDeleteLove the chandelier top! It takes a lot of "intestinal fortitude" to rip out and fix a problem, but it's worth it in the end. I'm intrigued by the Stay at Home Round Robin, your skiers and snowflakes are perfect!
ReplyDeleteGood job discovering the turned block before quilting. I (of course) love the border fabric, and the blocks look so cheerful!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found that sideways block before sandwiching and quilting! It will be a lovely baby quilt for H2H! I really like your interpretation for SAHRR! It is looking good!
ReplyDeleteIt would hardly be a quilt without a little drama! It turned out lovely and will make a nice donation. Love your SAHRR!
ReplyDeleteI love the turquoise around the edges. Good catch before you sandwiched it!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your RSC flimsy, Diann! Now, I'm off to make some Hourglass blocks. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteUgh! I hate when I get something turned wrong. But your flimsy is so pretty! I love your SAHRR.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you saw the boo-boo when you did. Would've been so much worse if you were getting down to the quilting even though it would've better to not have happened at all! hahaha! Turned out beautifully and someone will love it.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh! I hate when that happens! Glad it was sort of at the edge. All is well now, so on to the basting. That’s on my agenda today too, but I’m not looking forward to being down on my knees! “Grrrr”! Your SAHRR is looking good! I experimented with a larger size hourglass block, but I think I’ll trim it down! Too much math and frustration involved! haha!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh Diann, I laughed and laughed (sorry!) about that recalcitrant block! Well the flimsy is beautiful. I like your hourglasses, I must get busy on mine!
ReplyDeleteChandeliers will make a cute quilt for a little someone. At least you noticed the rebel before you started quilting.
ReplyDeleteLovely SAHRR too. I love that fabric with the little skiers.
Loving your chandelier flimsy, so delightfully cute! Glad you noticed that rogue block before quilting began!
ReplyDeleteGood thing you caught the turned block. Although, it would have just made the donation quilt even more 'special.' Hope you are having a nice weekend.
ReplyDeletethe turquoise around chandelier blocks is perfect. Pretty, cheerful, makes you want to look at all the fabrics. I like how regular and balanced your sahrr is comeing out, it's going to be lovely on the wall
ReplyDeleteI like the turquoise setting blocks. This reminds me I haven't put mine together yet. Mine will be large as I made 4/month for 2 years, but still a good donation.
ReplyDeleteI love the way the setting triangles make the blocks float in the center, it works so well with the strong vertical line of the blocks. Congratulations on getting it all put together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful RSC top! I especially like the turquoise setting triangles. Re-orienting a block is no fun when it is set in to the top; but, the work is worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteYour Chandelier flimsy is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finished flimsy. I love the aqua setting triangles. They show off the white background beautifully.
ReplyDeleteOk, Diann Here we go again- (hee hee! ) You are tempting me into another project. You always have fabulous projects going on . Chandeliers is beautiful and love the aqua. You knocked this one out of the park.
ReplyDeleteI have loved the chandelier quilt as it came together. It is such a cool pattern. So glad you found that oops before it was a full quilt top. It is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI really like the simplicity of your SAHRR2023 blocks so far.
