I Like Thursday #322

Valentine Greetings to you!  Living in Loveland, Colorado, it is all about hearts and Valentine's Day, especially in the month of February.  We are the "Sweetheart City!"

Not my photo, borrowed from a friend, but we drive by this spot quite frequently!

Hearts are all over town, some seasonal, some permanent, like the one above.  We have a "Miss Loveland Valentine" contest every year, official Valentine cards you can purchase to send, and even a specialty beer and coffee for the season.  All kinds of fun!

Inside our house, it's a little lower key on Valentine's Day, but I do enjoy putting out my heart quilts and other crafts.  Last year was the first time in a long time that I tried some cross-stitch and finished this little design from Melisa of PinkernPunkin Quilting.

This year, I've been stitching this sweet design, also shared by Melisa, her Red Heart Mini Sampler.  I loved the look of the alphabet and hearts all in red.

I don't think I'll have this finished for Valentine's Day,
but it's been fun to stitch on anyway!

Speaking of sweets, maybe I'll make us a special treat - like these cookies from Dessert for Two?  They look yummy!

Do you have plans for Valentine's Day?  Share them in your comment.  And thanks for visiting on I Like Thursday,  hosted by LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color!

  1. How fun, that is a cute card for Loveland. Valentine has not inspired me this year, I haven't gotten out my heart table topper, and I gave away much of the red things with hearts in a recent clear out.

  2. Sounds like hearts are a big deal where you live! I made a heart wall hanging last year so it is currently hanging up at our house. Cute alphabet cross stitch! Happy Valentine’s Day to you!

  3. Well Jocelyn had me craving cake, now I'm craving those red velvet cookies! I didn't realize you live in Loveland, I thought it was Fort Collins, but I guess that's pretty close. What a fun nickname for your city! that's a sweet display on your table, and I really like the red sampler.

  4. I never put out any Valentine stuff guess I just never got into it after the kids reached a certain age. In Arkansas we have several towns for Valentines Day the two that stick out in my mind are "Romance" and "Rosebud"

  5. I have very few Valentine's items but I do like to put them out for the month of February. Your heart table runner is so pretty and I love your cross stitch projects as well.

  6. Somehow the hubster and I never got into Valentine's Day. I think when we were younger we just had to work that day and never got the chance to enjoy, and now it isn't a thing for us. I love your little stitched alphabet and all your decor. And Dessert for Two is awesome! We make her sugar cookies all the time!

  7. I'm having my car serviced at 7:30 a.m. that day which means I need to leave home soon after 6! Then I stop for another PT treatment on my way home. It's going to be a busy week catching up from our trip and prepping for a retreat, with committee meetings and garden club to boot. I have already bought a card for DH, though.

  10. Isn’t it fun about Loveland. I remember sending Valentine’s all addressed and stamped to the post office in Loveland. Then they would postmark them from the Sweetheart City. And send them on.
I hope you make those red cookies! What fun!
Oh, I see you made that little table runner too! The “ I Heart You “ mini from Cluck, Cluck Sew! That was a fun pattern. I love your colors!

  12. Sounds like the city of Love. How perfect. Oh Diann, I just love your Valentine's display and I am so honored and grateful that you have stitched my humble little designs. The look beautiful. Love your sweet table quilt too. So cute!!! Have a great weekend.

  13. Sounds like you live just the right spot to celebrate the heart holiday. Your sampler stitching looks great. My Guy will be out of town for the holiday, but we have plans for a night out before leaves (to be honest we usually take each other out to dinner either the night before or the night after, that we don't deal with the crowds in the nicer restaurants.

  14. What a fantastic theme for your city - the name certainly lends itself to something like this. I didn't know though.

We don't really do much for Valentines Day. But I am working on the heart block recently published in the What is Love event that is happening. I love the block by Quilting Jetgirl. I cut the pieces yesterday and will work on it today. I am thinking of making three blocks and using them as a runner. Will it be done by Valentines day? Hmmm.... only time will tell but it is unlikely!

    Fun post Diann.
