This and That

I've apparently been jumping around from one thing to another this week, and here's my evidence:

Some Christmas patchwork squares (the start of my December table scraps, perhaps?), a gnome mini that needs a nose (and binding, too), and a bit of progress on the Arizona block that will become a gift for a friend.  (Fortunately, it's not due until mid-January!)

In between, I've been cutting up a few scraps that were left on my cutting table from previous projects and using them to make a few little blocks for the Parts Department.

If I had enough of a piece for two 2.5 inch squares and two 1.5 inch squares, I decided to make 4.5 inch bowtie blocks.  I've been hand-piecing these in the evenings.

If I only have enough for two inch squares, I'm making 3.5 inch four patches.  They'll probably turn into double four patches at some point.  These work great for leaders and enders!

And that's my stitching week - a little of this and a little of that!

Oh wait!  Friday afternoon, there was some time to finish up my gnome's nose and sew on the binding.  So, a little finish after all!

6.5 inches square - a cute little "Drop Everything and Make It!"
Directions for this gnome can be found HERE.

  1. You've really been plugging away for your "Parts Department" - haha! I like that Christmas patchwork up top of your photo. The little gnome is adorable! I was kind of all over the map yesterday too, but I did finish the cookie exchange project, so today is play day between football games. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  4. Your little gnome is so cute! I like how you are using the scraps for bowties and 4-patches rather than just putting those scraps into a bin or box.

  5. Your scrap approach seems very Cathy-like! The little bow ties are very promising. The gnome is cute indeed.

  7. I love how you jump back and forth on your projects. Sometimes I can do that and others I just want to get it done! I have too many of those starts that I didn't jump back in to finish it.

  8. I just love those bow tie blocks. I did some in a previous RSC project and think they are such a pretty and effective block, nice and easy to stitch too.

  9. Little bits add up to a whole lot. Love the blue bow tie block. (Parts Department? Is that like Orphan Blocks?)

  13. Sew much cuteness, Diann. I love the colors of the fabrics in the 1st photo . Seeing all of the fabrics and blocks together has a vintage vibe. The little gnome is so precious.
