A little bit of progress this week, all heading in the right direction, even if slowly. I had figured out that I only needed one more Bloom basket for a 25 block layout, so I sewed that up.
I'm going for the cover layout there, and have gotten as far as calculating how many setting triangles I need, plus purchased the fabric for them. No cutting or sewing yet!
So here's where I am with the layout of baskets. I'll probably move a few here and there before I'm ready to sew them up. It's definitely going to be a quilt full of scrappy color, isn't it?!
During one evening of hand-stitching I sewed up one more plus block in light blue.
That actually gives me seven blue blocks, and this quilt will just need three more green blocks to be ready for sewing all the blocks together!
Along the way I sewed some crumb blocks out of the blue scrap bin for leaders and enders. I was trying to organize them by dark, medium, and light and it *kind of* worked, lol! But it doesn't look like I even made a dent in the blue scraps, does it? Guess I'll just keep making more of these!
There are a lot of blue-greens in that bin-
I'll have to pull them out for their own category of crumb blocks!

Blooms is going to be a colorful bouquet! Blues (and purples) are difficult. Most of my blues are on the green side, so I bought five "true" blues in June but have yet to use any of them.
ReplyDeleteI love your basket collect of blocks
ReplyDeleteThose baskets look amazing! I can't wait to see all the plus blocks together. I agree - the more crumb blocks you make the more scraps there tend to be after!
ReplyDeletegreat job on the light blues! I'm really liking how you are keeping the blues to the same value in your crumbs!
ReplyDeleteThose baskets are super duper cute!!! Absolutely adorable. Lovely blue blocks too. I must get on with mine - Sunday plans, I guess.
ReplyDeleteYour bloom baskets will make such a pretty quilt, very easy on the eyes! I'm so crazy about the plus blocks, maybe because I just love the background you've used. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhoo Hoo! A bloom quilt to the finish line. And more adorable plus blocks! You are kicking it! I make such a mess sewing crumb blocks! You sure keep your space neat! Enjoy the cooler weather, I have a hunch summer will be back! Maybe subdued, but warm again!
ReplyDeleteI just adore those scrappy little baskets, and the quilt will be so pretty. Those plus blocks keep tempting me too.
ReplyDeleteYour baskets quilt is just full of color - so fun! Love to see those little plus blocks dancing, too! I need to make some crumb blocks, and my blue scraps are overflowing. I don't know why - I don't feel like I sew with much blue (maybe that's why???) - LOL
ReplyDeleteSo colorful! Your basket blocks are very cheerful. I'm looking at the crumb blocks and wondering what they're laying on. Looks like the back to your Halloween Jubillee??? Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour basket blocks make a very colorful (and springlike) quilt.

Your pretty baskets are going to make a wonderful quilt!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooming baskets! And your plus blocks look great in blue. I'm starting to think scraps multiply while we're sleeping, and that's why we never make a dent in them.
ReplyDeleteYour blooming blocks continue to warm my heart. Those powder blue plus blocks are great as well. I laughed over making a dent in those blue scraps when you made the crumb blocks. It seems the more I sew, the more scraps I have. How does this happen??? Well, I have a few thoughts on that question. . . .!!!
ReplyDeleteYour Bloom quilt is so beautiful and happy. It is definitively on my list of future RSC blocks. Great job, Diann. ;^)
