A little finish...

The other day I found this pretty print at my LQS and knew I had to bring it home.  The selvage says it is chrysanthemums, but it still reminds me of the marigolds that grow in my garden.

I had been looking for some sunflower fabric to finish off "Summer Sun," but those prints all seemed to be big flowers and I needed something smaller for a narrow border.  This turned out to be perfect!

The weather did a big change overnight from Thursday into Friday - upper 90s and bright sun to 50s and drizzle.  It definitely feels more like fall.  We were wrapped up in our quilts all Saturday afternoon!  Needing a new embroidery design for slow stitching, I completely changed seasons and went with this one.

"Noel" by Kathy Schmitz

I'm not quite ready for snow yet (and I think we're supposed to be back up in the 80s this coming week), but I'll enjoy working on this one all in variegated blue.  Meanwhile the marigolds are still blooming!

Have a great Sunday!  I'll be watching the NFL games with Mike
and doing some slow stitching.

  1. A great little quilt :-D
Just like Richie Rich - a poor little rich boy, but sentiments reversed. You know what I mean?
    Have a Happy Sunday.

  2. You're right, that fabric IS perfect for that pretty embroidery. I got that Noel pattern last month - I like your start on it with the variegated blue. We are supposed to dip into the 50s tonight, but I wish it was during the day like you! I'm so ready.

  5. Great fabric choice for your border on the embroidery piece! The new Noel embroidery should be done in plenty of time for Christmas. Your baskets look so cheerful in the last post…lots of scrappy memories in the quilt!

  7. Perfect fabric for your stitchery. We have been 105+ and were even 114 one day. Thankfully we are getting down into the high 90s the next two days, then mid 80s. We need rain so bad both for the drought and the wildfire up the hill from me.

  12. You were right! That fabric is perfect! Football's on at my house, too. I don’t have any handwork prepped. Yet. But I agree, it’s a must! Gorgeous marigolds! They were my mom's favorite flower.

  17. Marigolds are great bang for your buck, as the saying goes. And their blooms are so pretty, underrated in my book. Lovely embroidery. And wow, that fabric was absolutely perfect for that piece. I wish we had Joann's around here but they are delivering to Canada now.
