My first Table Scraps finish for 2022 was a truly scrap happy endeavour, inspired by the backing scraps leftover from the Frosty wall-hanging I finished earlier in the month.
Snowmen with red scarves and cardinals -
perfect!
I cut up as many 4.5 inch squares as I could and made 4 patches from red (leftover from Positivity) and blue (out of the solids drawer) scraps to make alternate blocks.
Some serpentine quilting following the seams, and another scrap of blue (this time in navy) from my solids drawer, and I now have a new mat for the small table that sits between our comfy chairs in the sitting area off our dining room.
This is placemat sized - 12.5 x 16.5
I've had a fat quarter of this funny snowman print on the shelf forever, and it turned out to be perfect for the backing.
It didn't take long to put this new mat to use!
Snowman mug just waiting for some coffee!
Also this week, I made one new set of cloth napkins for us, using the red apple print and a fun text print for the opposite side. I've been making these since 2014, using this tutorial, and have made lots of them since then. They make great gifts!
Useful and also fun on the table!

ReplyDeleteThe snowman table topper is so cute. I like the napkins also but the real eye catcher for me are those beautiful place mats!
ReplyDeleteA perfect mat for your snowman and mug, maybe some hot chocolate!
ReplyDeleteLove the way you quilted your beautiful placemat. A go to pattern for me. Thanks for the placemat tutorial - I'll be trying those out.
ReplyDeleteIt's SEW fun when the scraps cooperate with our project ideas, isn't it? Thanks for linking to January's TABLE SCRAPS Challenge, Diann!
ReplyDeleteHope that mug got filled with some hot chocolate! It looks perfect on there.
ReplyDeleteLove your little snowman table at! Great way to use up those scraps! Oh! And thanks for the link to the napkin tutorial! It’s great!

Great snowy table mat! Nice to find the perfect backing fabric in the stash too.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun with your snowman fabric. Great to make so many projects and put them to immediate use.
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd perfect to use right now!
Stay warm!!!
Beautiful projects, love the snowman table mat. Stay warm and safe.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to use up those snowmen scraps. Thanks for the tutorial link, too. I think I will give them a try. I like napkins that have a little weight to them, rather than one single piece of cotton fabric. Nice finish for your January Table Scraps!
ReplyDeleteThat's a sweet little snowman themed placemat! I like the way you quilted it, too. Beautiful napkins as well!
ReplyDeleteThe penguins are going to get jealous that you’re sewing with so many snowmen (snowpersons), LOL. The table topper is darling!!
ReplyDeleteCute table topper! I will have to check out the napkin tutorial. We use way too many paper towels and that would certainly cut down on the waste.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, cloth napkins would be a good solution to dealing with two issues. Too much fabric and using too many paper napkins. Cute snowman mat. I really should have gotten something done for Table Scraps this month. I'll definitely work on something for February since, sadly, I'm not travelling south again this year.

ReplyDeleteLovely table mat, with snowmen! The penguins can't have all the fun. And cute napkins too! Thanks for the link to the napkin tutorial. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

the Christmas one. Have a great day!
Great use of all those scraps and older fabrics. I need to make some new napkins too. Mine are looking at bit worn. Thanks for linking up with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteFun projects! Fun table setting, too.
ReplyDeleteThose snowman scraps are so happy! What a nice way to brighten your day in the cold of winter. Your cloth napkins are pretty. I've thought about making some but figure the first time I use them I'll be afraid to wipe my mouth on them. LOL!
