Rainbow Progress

I have several Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects that are in different stages of construction, and this week I've worked a little bit on each one.  That is something I really enjoy doing!

I finished up the final row for Full Stop, and took some time to measure what I've got and do some thinking about how I might finish this one.

I've made all 10 rows, and they are varying lengths and widths.
The widest row is the orange hyphens at 47, and I think I would want this at least 50 inches wide.
The total length of all the rows when laid out together is 72," but of course I would lose some to the seam allowance.
I really like Angela's layout (see her post here) - she has combined some of the rows, and added sashing in between, so that gives me something to think about!

Meanwhile, I've been cutting low volume neutrals for the Easy Breezy sashing.  When I get them all cut and the layout finalized, this will go back to being my leader/ender project at the sewing machine.

Back at the sewing machine, I got all the crumb hearts and Tula Pink squares sewn together - so far this makes a 36 inch square.

Next step is to add some borders.  6 inch borders will bring this up to 48 inches square, and I have an idea for how to make it rectangular by adding something else at top and bottom.

In the evenings, I've been continuing to work on hand quilting the Rainbow Trip quilt.  I've started by quilting on the diagonals going both directions through the quilting which makes these larger squares - about 8 inches.  Next step will be to cut each square in half by finding the center diagonal again.

So, progress on everything this week - feels good!

  1. Lots of color, joy and beauty in your studio. Once the flimsies are done, it is time to choose backings. It is the perfect excuse to dive into my stash and fondle fabric and maybe even order wide backings :-D

  10. Lots of fun progress here this week. I'm carefully watching how each Full Stop quilt evolves. I'm not sure how mine is going to end up either. I still have a few rows to make. I may adjust as I'm doing them.
