Getting Started on September

Inspired by these pretty marigolds in my front garden, I decided to play with orange this week.


I pulled out the crumb box and a few larger chunks to see what I had.


In the crumb box, I found these, not even sure what I originally made them for.  

I wondered if they would work for a crumb heart.

And they did!


Here is the rainbow of crumb hearts and wonky stars up on the design wall.  You can see my idea for sashing and cornerstones in the first few blocks at the top.  It looks like I still need a few more hearts and stars to make this quilt a little bigger.



I also cut out the 36 squares needed for a Scrappy Trips block.


And that has been my evening hand stitching all week.  Making good progress, too!

  2. Hi Diann, it seems like we were connected during the week, I also decided to go with the orange color and to start I also made hearts for my mini block collection.
    I loved seeing your plans for the Hearts and Wonky Stars quilt. It is looking beautiful so far.

  4. I think in Angela's absence a lot of us have decided to do orange this month, I got my orange out to look yesterday and will get started on it tomorrow I think.

  5. Looks like your marigolds are flourishing - you must be doing something right. I like your sashing and cornerstone idea. The orange makes a pretty Scrappy Trips!

  18. Good guess on this month's color and looks like you weren't the only one to jump start with orange. Angela did make if it official with a paragraph I think she added added so many comments asking what the color was.

  21. Orange in the garden and orange fabrics; so cheery and bright. Love that orange heart and the sashing fabric for the crumb hearts and wonky stars quilt is perfect. The colour aqua is a perfect choice.
