My main focus this week has been to work on the two hand-pieced July blocks for my Rainbow Scrap Challenge Scrappy Trips quilt. I finished up the dark blue block...
And cut pieces for a block in lots of different browns, both dark and light.
Text fabric, sunflowers, fall leaves, cobblestones, and seashells.
This one has a fall feel.
Here are all the blocks so far.
My Sunday slow stitching plan is to finish up the brown block.
Later in the week, our oldest son is coming to visit, so I'd like to have a new embroidery design traced and ready to work on, because that's probably the only stitching I'll be able to do while we spend time with him. I like both the June and July designs.
Which one should I choose?

I like the butterfly - what colors do you plan to use. Sometimes the stitching is the easiest to do when you have visitors I know it was easy for me to concentrate on my knitting when Melanie was visiting yesterday and she usually brings needle work to stitch at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the butterfly! It makes me smile! Also your blocks me smile too! Just loving that project! Have a wonderful visit with your son!!!
ReplyDeleteCute embroidery designs! I like the watering can, but both are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'd trace off both of them so the 2nd one is ready to go for whatever. Both designs are very pretty, just pick one without looking. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteBoth embroideries are so pretty...difficult to choose which one to do first. Pick the one the makes you smile the most when you look at it! Your rainbow scrap challenge blocks are looking wonderful on your design wall! Have a great visit with your son.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting about your son coming to visit. Do you have any big plans?
ReplyDeleteLove the way you're doing gradual dark to light in your scrappy trip. The brown blocks look really good in with the rainbow colors.
I love both patterns. I'm a teapot lover, but I love butterflies too!
Both are great designs.... I'd vote for the flowers. Enjoy your visit and those Scrappy Trips are looking great.
ReplyDeleteNo matter which one you will choose , both are beautiful and deserve to be embroidered!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to know you will have a special visit. Enjoy the time with your son.
Happy week, Diann!
What a wonderful collection of blocks, Diann! Stitch pick? The butterfly block is my favorite of the two.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are coming along great! Have a wonderful visit with your son - I'm so thankful my daughter only lives one mile away. I really like the watering can pattern - but either one should be fun! Have a great Sunday!
ReplyDeleteBoth of those embroidery designs are pretty, but I think I would choose the butterfly. Your quilt is looking so pretty. I like all those fabrics.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun projects! Enjoy the time with your son! I'm so glad you get to see him!
ReplyDeleteI guess it's what you're using the design for? But my eye was drawn to the butterfly.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun visit! Our son and family is coming this week, too!
They are both really nice embroideries, I'd want to do both! Have a great visit with your son.
ReplyDeleteScrappy trips is looking good! Although butterflies ( or Flutterbys, as Kathy calls it) are special to me, I really like the watering can ! They both have lots of tracing!
ReplyDeleteI like the watering can. I am going to trace out both though for a long road trip I might be making soon across the country.
ReplyDeleteBoth the embroideries are lovely. I think I'd do the watering can first, but since you'll do both eventually, I guess it doesn't really matter. I bet your mother will be thrilled to see her grandson. Enjoy the visit. You'll have lots of time later to sew.
ReplyDeletePat
I really like the butterfly design and would do that one first! But you can't go wrong with those lovely choices!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your stitching and visiting!
Thanks for linking up to Slow Sunday Stitching!
Love your rainbow scrap project. I had to quit as i would make up tons of blocks but am more a scrappy and not planned scrappy kinda gal.
ReplyDeleteGreat blocks! I'd pick the watering can if it were up to me. Both are very pretty, of course. Have fun with your company. Sounds like he'll be visiting for a while?
