Getting Started with Green

This week my Stay at Home Round Robin project has been taking up a lot of my creative thinking space, but along the way some bits of green have come out to play.

I made a couple chandelier bead blocks, one in dark green, one in bright.


Also got a start on the bracket blocks for Full Stop, the Rainbow Scrap Challenge sampler for 2021.  Thank you, Angela, for sharing these tutorials each month!



I've also been mulling over what kind of design I could use for my Table Scraps placemat this month, and pulled out these jelly roll strips in shades of green.  These are part of a jelly roll that I won in a giveaway a few years ago, and I've been struggling to find inspiration for using them in a quilt.  The other main color is purple/lavendar, plus there is (sparkly) gold in them.  Just not my colors!  But I might be able to make a fun placemat (probably more than one!) out of these.



Pulling all the green out has me thinking about how I'd really like to finish up the Rainbow Jungle, my RSC2020 project.  It just needs a backing and to be quilted.  There's another finish in the quilting queue ahead of this one, though!  Maybe I'll get to it!

    How funny I had not noticed the green in your SAHRR quilt - and I love it! I need to get started on catch up today, but husband wants my ideas for yard landscaping. Outdoor work is beckoning!

    So much to play with this month! I love green and purple together, and have made two quilts for my home in those colors. I know you'll come up with some way to use those great jelly roll strips.

    your small top is moving along and it is interesting to see where it will go next. Love the chandelier blocks - it reminds me of beaded curtains from the 70's

    Enjoyed your Thursday post, Diann. Good on Mike to capture that beautiful eagle. Always thrilling to see the bigger birds. What great sky photos too. I especially liked your photo of you relaxing and looking happy.
    Yes, green is a funny kind of colour. So many shades and many don't work with each other I find. Even making leaves can be a challenge for that reason. But always fun to play with them. Hope you two are having a good weekend.

    Green is one of my favorite colors! I hop to get to the bracket blocks this week. And my OMG is calling. It has green in it too! Hope you get a chance to quilt your Jungle!

    I do like those chandelier blocks, so will enjoy seeing their numbers grow. Curious to see what you do for a placemat, and always fun to see the Round Robin in all its cheerful colors!

    I love the Round Robin, and all your nice green blocks. One of the things I like most about the Rainbow Scrap Challenge is using scraps I might otherwise have passed by. Your jelly roll strips will make cute blocks for a placemat--or for anything else you decide!

    I'm glad to be reminded of your Rainbow Jungle- I plan to make it soon as an RSC-better get started! I am doing chandeliers also, year 2 of them, one per week, so I should have enough for a quilt by December. Cut all my green ones wrong, so that's the next step!

    Hmm, you've given me an idea. I love the Chandelier block, maybe I can play along with the monthly color by using that block. 2 or 3 a month would be no problem and in the end, maybe a quilt of some size? All looks great! Green is my fav, so this month I am loving the blocks everyone is making.

    Oooooooh, love the jelly roll strips! They look pretty in the picture. Your SAHRR is looking really good under the needle too. I guess while you're finishing the quilting on project #1, you can be thinking about how you want to quilt the Rainbow Forest!
