Crumbs, Quotation Marks, and a little Slow Stitching

I realized after last week's Saturday post that I had forgotten to share the pink crumb blocks I sewed in January, so here they are.  And this week, some yellow crumb blocks, too!  These will be saved up until I have enough in each color to make the "Precarious" quilt from Kelly Young's book, Stash Statement.

Looks like I need to make more pink blocks!

I also stitched up a row of quotation marks for the RSC 2021 sampler quilt, using Angela's tutorial from earlier in the week.  I opted for the simpler style and think it will work just fine!

Pink and yellow together...

My rows are about 41 - 42 inches wide at this point.
I'll add more background fabric to make them wider later in the year.

This week, I also cut out enough 2.5 inch squares in various shades of yellow to hand-piece a yellow scrappy trips block.  These are lovely sunshine-y colors for a gray February day.  This will be my slow stitching for the evenings and Sunday during the Super Bowl.  I'm planning to make two 12.5 inch blocks each month.

Sharing at SoScrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday and at
Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching!

  1. Good morning Diann,
Great crumbs blocks. Have you notice that yello and gray are the Pantone colors for 2021? So your blocks are perfect for a gray month - LOL.
Your hand piecing block is amazing.

  3. Your crumb blocks will be so pretty in that Precarious pattern. I need to get going on my yellows, but I'm hung up on a Squirrel! Will you and Mike have a Super Bowl spread for two at your house? :)

  4. I have read a bunch of your latest posts, Diann. I was wondering when and if the pandemic would start showing up in novels. Interesting, heh. Gorgeous photos especially in the last post, did you say if Mike took it? Love those tulip blocks and I have a thing for tulips though I don't add more to the garden as they don't last long. Meanwhile, lots of lovely sewing and stitching happening at your house. Yellows are perfect for brightening February and pinks too of course. Happy Stitching, dear.

  12. I haven't even pulled out the yellow scraps yet. And I need to decide on a "Table Scraps" yellow design and not leave it till the last week. We had sunshine for the 4th day in a row, almost unheard here at this time of year.

  14. Lots of sunny yellows in your blocks. As grey as the days have been, Angela was wise to pick yellow so we all have a nice pick me up in February.
