If ever there was a week that needs positive thinking and things to make us smile, this it! I love "Sweatpants and Coffee!"
Way back on Halloween, I carved one of the pumpkins I grew this year. I was searching Pinterest for easy ideas, and here's what I came up with!
This is me in the grocery store, trying to smile at people with my eyes, lol!
The next day, I took the carved pumpkin and its innards out to the garden to feed the wildlife, and I think they are enjoying it!
I roasted the other pumpkin that I grew and turned it into pumpkin bread. I love pumpkin bread, and my favorite recipe is from Carole at From My Carolina Home, Pumpkin Orange Bread.
Yummy!
I shared in my Tuesday post that I've been working on a cheddar and indigo wall-hanging. I went to my LQS that afternoon to look for a backing fabric, and found yardage of one I bought a year ago, that I had put a scrap of in the pumpkin block.
Can you see the selvage there at the bottom? It has pumpkins and is called "Thankful," by Deb Strain. Perfect for a November finish! I ended up using it as the borders, too.
I managed to plant some bulbs in my small front garden the other day. There's some hope for the future!
And I can't end my post without saying "Thank you!" to my friend, Vicki, of Vicki's Crafts and Quilting, for surprising me with this adorable wall-hanging with her fun snowmen on it! I decided to hang them on this wall in my sewing room with my other seasonal mini quilts. That way I can see them everyday!
Thank you, Vicki! Those little guys make me smile every time I see them!
Thanks for visiting on "I Like Thursday!"

What a grand idea to share your carved pumpkin with the critters! I had to giggle at Mr Pumpkins mask! So apropos! Lucky to find some of the same fabric for your wallhanging! Score! These photos really show the indigo! It’s stunning!
ReplyDeleteThis was indeed a positive post that we all need right now. I enjoyed your pumpkin stories from growing our own, feeding the wildlife, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin quilts.
ReplyDeleteLove your AJ wall hanging and I have that exact same fabric in my table runner on my table right now!!! I think our wildlife must have it too easy. Many people toss their "expired" pumpkins over onto the bike trail but they just rot there. Maybe our squirrels raccoons, possums, and deer need to show a little more appreciation! Lol! I have made Carole's pumpkin bread recipe before. That bit of citrus hits a good note with me too. Love your lead-in prayer ... appropriate now for sure and really always.
ReplyDeleteOMG your pumpkin was so appropriate for this year! We always give our pumpkins to the critters too. It is fun seeing them enjoy them after we do;) I love that you put your snowmen hanging on your seasonal wall, and you are so very welcome! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat projects! I planted about 50 bulbs this week too.
ReplyDeletepumpkin orange bread sounds good. I need to get my bulbs planted this week - I was having a hard time digging up the flower bed so Mike got have of it done yesterday and I hope we can get it done today so I can get the bulbs planted before it gets cold next week again.
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with your pumpkins, including feeding the wildlife. :) That cheddar and dark blue table runner is beautiful. The backing and borders fabric is really pretty, I may have to look for some of that.
ReplyDeleteYou always have such fun things in your posts. Sweatpants and coffee - yes, please. I think the critters are loving pumpkin season (I kinda look like that squirrel - heh). The pumpkin bread looks very tasty, and your wallhanging is so perfect for this time of year. Vicki is the best kind of friend, isn't she?! Your little wall of quilts is growing! Hope your bulbs survive and grow!
ReplyDeleteLucky you, Diann!! I love Vicki's snowmen. (So much that I bought the pattern!) Good luck with you flowers. I seem to have limited success with tulips, but I've spread my daffodils all over the neighborhood. :o))
ReplyDeleteOMG, Diann! That carved pumpkin is GREAT. So darn cute! And that squirrel eating the pumpkin - somehow Sandra needs that for her dreami post! Another person roasting pumpkin and your bread looks yummy. How cool that the fabric is called Thankful! Perfect! Aww, your collection of minis looks so cute and those snowmen just complete it. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteAt our house pumpkins go to the pigs and the chickens. I totally get trying to smile at people at work with a mask on. Great quilt love your fabrics and the blues, yellows and oranges really pop. Yep, coffee, and sweatpants are definitely a necessity.
ReplyDeleteGreat likes this week, Diann. The squirrel seems to be enjoying the pumpkin. And Vicki does such great snowmen pieces. I should really get one of her patterns as I have a sizable snowman collection. It's been unseasonably warm this week, through next Tuesday, so I'm getting lots of end of season garden work done. Have a good weekend.

That is a seriously round squirrel. Pumpkin orange - what an interesting combination. What a cute set of wall hangings.
ReplyDeleteYour whole post is just lovely, Diann. From that inspirational piece to the lovely quilty gift, we all need positive uplifting things to see us through. Our Covid numbers keep rising here in Ontario so we are not out of the woods yet.
ReplyDeleteYou've made this week a positive - well done! I love the inspirational pic. And your pumpkin!
ReplyDeleteI liked every bit of that post Diann... I'm going to make that pumpkin bread tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteoooo that fat little squirrel... nature continues on luckily
Thank you for the reminder, Diann. These have been particularly difficult times further complicated by the lies and conspiracy theories running wilder than the wildfires. Your holiday celebration wall is a sight for sore eyes. Love how you took one item - the pumpkin - and did everything with it :-) Did you take the picture of that squirrel? Is there another Dreami in the works?
ReplyDeleteI like the wish for the week ahead, too. Yay for pumpkin bread and for bulbs to look forward to in the spring! I wish I'd remembered to plant some...I did get some garlic planted but not quite as exciting! LOL
