To-Do Tuesday #59

Good morning! I'm checking in today with my weekly to-do list and linking up with Roseanne and friends for the To-Do Tuesday linky party at Home Sewn By Us

Again this week, I've had a lot of things to research and find out about for my mom, in case she needs a different place to live or some kind of extra help.  Lots of time spent on the phone talking to senior living places, home health care companies, and medical alert systems.  We have slowly figured things out, and I think life will smooth out here soon, but this week I didn't get much time in the sewing room again.

I did finish up the yellow trees for my Rainbow Jungle project, and here is my collection of blocks for this quilt.

And I have continued to work on the Humble Quilts QAL project.  Quilting is almost finished and then all that will be left is the binding.

And (oops!), I got distracted by a squirrel... I've been wanting to play with cheddar and dark blue (indigo?), and Carole's Autumn Jubilee QAL at From My Carolina Home came along, so I played!

I'll play with these blocks a little bit, and probably make something small.
Sometimes you just have to play, with no goal in mind!

It's hard to say what I'll be able to get done this week.  I know what I'd like to work on, so I'll put that list here, and just see what happens!

1.  Finish the Humble Quilt.
2.  Start on yellow HSTs for the Rainbow Zigzag quilt.
3.  Get back to work on the Color Gradient quilting.
4.  Get back to work on the Mini Magic Star panels for a tote bag.
5.  Keep playing with the squirrel blocks.

Surely something will get done!  😉

  1. Your Humble Quilt is so pretty! Sorry to hear about all the research that goes into making sure your mother is taken care of but it must be done. When the decisions are finally all made, you'll rest easier. Take care.

  2. I just love looking at your trees quilt. Carole's QAL looks like fun, and those beautiful fall colors! So tempting but our house is still in disarray.
Glad you are feeling more peaceful about your Mom; is she a bit independent?

  6. Hi Diann! OH! Your Rainbow Jungle project is so COOL. Are the trees paper pieced? I think I would love to make something similar in the RSC blocks for next year. Darn it - I'm collecting so many ideas that I'll be making many different blocks in the chosen color each month. Your little Humble quilt is also so darn cute. Such pretty colors and fabrics. Thanks for linking up today. ~smile~ Roseanne

  7. I think you were very productive, considering long hours on the phone. Best wishes for that issue to be resolved, I’ll be forever grateful to my sister, who lived in the same city as our Mom. She just Did It! We went to help move out of her house, but my sister and my brothers were there.
I’m looking forward to seeing what becomes of your cheddar and indigo stars. So special!

  9. Glad to hear you are working things out with your mom's situation. The positive side of that is you know how to better prepare for yourself. Love the cheddar and blue combo. I have several repro fabrics with it but I've never been able to cut into it!

  12. I somehow missed that your Mom was having difficulties. I hope you can get things sorted out soon. It's especially hard when you're not in the same location. Hopefully, you'll get some break to be creative.

  15. Your forest is coming together beautifully. Of course you have to play. The little yellow star shines so bright. After all, how does one make an orphan blocks quilt?

  16. Love the fabrics in your squirrel! Anxious to see what you do with your blocks; I'm not very good at letting myself play like that but I think because I never take the time make minis/small quilts, though I love them. (Maybe that should be a 2021 goal!)

  17. Those tree blocks make such a fun quilt with a lot of whimsy. Very fairy taley. I like your squirrel. Yellow and blue are such a beautiful fabric combo.
