The beginning of each new month in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge is always fun because I get to hunt around in my scraps and stash to see what I'll be playing with this month. For the Rainbow Jungle trees, I need about an 8 inch square of two coordinating fabrics to make two trees, and here's what I came up with.
So, eight trees in red were made this week.
Bright and happy -
Fall colors -
Snowflakes -
We're supposed to get some of those snowflakes
at the beginning of next week... brrr!
And my favorite of all - we have some jungle explorers!
Up, up, and away!
Here are all the red trees together:
This week I've also spent a little time arranging the double four patch blocks I've made so far this year, to see how the colors balance out. There are 42 blocks so far, and in a 6 x 7 layout, this quilt would be about 36 x 42 - not big enough yet!
You can see I'm already adding more reds!
Hope you've been having some scrappy fun this week! Sharing at SoScrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday and at Quilting is more fun than Housework for Oh Scrap!
Love the red and am ga-ga over your 4 patch! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteIt must be fun to play with some reds and autumn colors! Love that 4-patch.
ReplyDeleteDouble 4-patch is coming right along; it shouldn't be hard to make it a bit bigger. My first husband was from Utah and he always said they had three seasons -- July, August, and Winter! We actually had sweater weather this morning.
ReplyDeleteLove the red jungle additions! I think that snowflake one is my favorite =)
ReplyDeleteI really like the trees and wonder if I would like to do them for next year - I can't believe I said next year already
ReplyDeleteI used red for a different month as we had already used blue and greens twice and not sure what color to use but I am leaning towards more red - after all we used blue and greens for two months right!
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy :) I really like the tree blocks especially the 'jungle explorer' - cute!.. Somehow I didn't get the message for the new month's RSC so didn't find it until yesterday, I think it was.
ReplyDeleteWe hear here in Mich. that the Denver area could get snow this coming week. All I can say is "better there than here!". I'm really dreading winter this year - more than usual.
Stay warm :)
Your jungle is growing nicely and your double 4-patches look delightful.
ReplyDeleteLove the tree project! And the fabrics you chose are so sweet!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteLove all your little trees...really like the one with the little girl and balloons...have a great day!
Fun additions to the Jungle, Diann. Love, love, LOVE how the Double 4-Patch looks up on you design wall!! I'm looking forward to seeing these blocks come together in a quilt.
ReplyDeleteI like those little squares haring off to get into trouble...maybe they'll reproduce and you'll have more fabric
ReplyDeleteWell, in a forest/jungle like that, there really does need to be some explorers, so that's a fun add. That little 4-patch quilt is going to be a fun finish!
ReplyDeleteLove the double four-patches with that blue fabric - it has a vintage look to it!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou've got some really fun trees growing in your jungle this month. Can't believe you've got flakes in your forecast! I thought we were finally cooling off when it was only 58 this morning when I left to take Gracie for her walk at 7am. Jacket weather finally! Not quite ready for snow. At least your snow goes away reasonable quickly especially this early in the season.
ReplyDeleteYour jungle trees are always a delight to see. Is that Doro the Explorer swinging about the jungle on balloons?
ReplyDeleteThose trees are so perfect and fun. And I love your double fourpatch quilt.
ReplyDeleteLove your trees, Diann. Good work on the four-patch. ;^)
ReplyDeleteI always love to see your trees! What a wonderful quilt they'll be!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm always a big fan of 4-patch blocks - yours are fantastic paired with that blue!
Loving your double 4patches!
ReplyDeleteYour RSC blocks look great. Loving those trees. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteThose trees are very cute. And, I bet they will look very good in your forest! Are you going to lay the double 4 patches in rainbow diagonals as you have them today? Or ?
ReplyDeleteSo glad I stopped, love your double 4 patch quilt
ReplyDeleteToo cute for words. So let me paint a picture - If I were a little girl I would have thrown a huge tantrum and not stopped howling till I got that Up Up and Away fabric :-)
ReplyDeleteThat double 4 patch quilt is a delight to look at!
