My main goal for my Rainbow Scrap Challenge sewing this week was to keep working on the HSTs for this month's zigzag row in red. Here's where I am with that -
18 made, 6 more needed
But, you know me - it's easy to get distracted by pretty things out there in blogland and find things I just "have to try!" For example, I'd been wanting to make a postage stamp block. Wondering if I would catch the PSP 2020 bug. Lol! So, I did!
Will I make more? Not sure yet! Making this block felt a bit like experiencing labor and delivery... As I was working on it, I was saying to myself, "Never again!" But now that I am a few days past it, I've been thinking it wasn't so bad! All those little squares are pretty cute!
In other red news, I've made some Easy Breezy blocks in red scraps -
And have firmed up the layout for my Double 4 Patch quilt!
The scrap pieces that are pinned up there represent the blocks that are left to make - yellow and turquoise in the top right corner, and then red, orange, blue, and pink on the left side to make a 7 x 8 layout.

Diann your work inspires me. I want to make that sisterhood block too and thanks for the previous post and where to find it! I printed it out yesterday. I love your double 4 patch. It's similar to one I want to make later (on my list) but I love the blue you chose as your neutral color. The piece makes me smile!! I love your easy breezy blocks block too--love the use of aqua! Now regarding that postage stamp piece: A lot of people are going to cheer you on to do more. I am your friend so I'll just say this: DON'T BE CRAZY!! ROFL!! Sorry couldn't help shouting that... 2.5 inches is as small as I can go. If you want to keep on, I'll be so impressed with you and shouting your praises! Have a great day girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteAnd just like labor, after awhile you forgot how hard it was - lol! What is the PSP - postage stamp ??? Your double 4-patch looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Loving your postage block--yes, I hear that siren call too...something about the solid against all those pretty prints, yum!! ;)))
ReplyDeleteI am still making my endless courthouse steps blocks about 25 left to go to reach 100--the number I think will be enough!!
Am getting distracted here with embroidery projects--needing to hand stitch...
Love your double 4-patch piece--nice work hugs, Julierose
Sew many fun things in progress. Those little sisters are adorable...and the 4 patches are looking great. I had to laugh about labor and then forgetting a few days later! Worst case.... make it a center of a quilt... or do a quilt of various blocks. See, I'm not encouraging you to go through labor again! =)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to take a photo of my penguin ED block for the blog today.... will post it tomorrow =)
You and I work a lot alike -- visually fill in the blanks.
ReplyDeleteOh, no, Diann!! You caught PSP20? I'm still TRYING to avoid it. LOVE how you planned out the rest of your Double 4-Patch (and your Easy Breezy blocks look awesome, too!
ReplyDeleteI always like postage stamp blocks - a little labor intensive when it comes to pressing but something about them I have always loved. I liked those sister blocks when Preeti made them and I am loving yours too.
ReplyDeleteI swore I would never make psp blocks and then, I was hooked too. your projects look so nice
ReplyDeleteAll your blocks are so pretty, Diann. They will make lovely quilts this year.
ReplyDeleteI love the looks of a postage stamp block.....but NO! for me! I’ll live vicariously through you, should you decide to accept that “Mission Impossible” grin!
ReplyDeleteI am going to get on the petite sisters bandwagon though! I’ve resisted for far too long! And I am such a Preeti fan!
Your Double 4 patch quilt is going to be awesome! Great idea to lay out the needed colors! I sometimes get sidetracked, so that idea would help me!
Have a good weekend, you’re getting a peek back at summer it seems! It can’t last! Enjoy!
You've definitely made good progress on using up some red scraps. The zigzag blocks are so bright, red is such a happy color to sew with. Your layout for the 4 patch blocks is looking good. Definitely some fun squirrels running loose in your sewing space.
ReplyDeleteSuch great projects, Diann! Like Judy and Joy, I’m trying hard to avoid catching the PSP20. But Ido love yours! I have lots of 1.5” bits, but I’ll be making Nann’s waffle blocks for PSP21, hehe.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun, I enjoy seeing all your diversions :-) Yesterday, I played with wonky stars after watching the video by Em's Scrapbag. I have six done, now waiting to decide whether I make more or stop. Will let that brew for this weekend; I'm going to go out for the day and celebrate our anniversary with hubs.
ReplyDeleteOh WOW! So much to look at! You did a great job and I love the addition of the red petite sister. Your double 4-patch is looking really fun too but we all knew it would be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love the post stamp block; well done. I may be in the minority, but I say make more!
ReplyDeleteAre you making the squares postage stamp blocks by sewing all squares or sewing the print squares to a solid strip, then sub-cutting them. That's what I would do if I were making them (I'm not, I don't have a lot of solids). I would then sew the two patches into four patches, then the four patches to each other. I'd spin the seams, then the seams will all nest. I was happy to see the petite sisters block on Preeti's blog. That size would work better for me than the large ones, so maybe next year for RSC. Hope your temps have warmed up and the smoke has lessened.
ReplyDeletePat
The postage stamp squares are really cute, but that must take forever! (Sort of like a Forever Stamp --ha, ha).
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you keep all those quilts and pieces straight! They'd all get mixed up in my sewing room. I can only do one piecing project at a time!
Wonderful progress and plans for all the red! I like those easy breezy blocks, but I MUST RESIST!! I have too many other things in the wings.
ReplyDeleteMwa-ha-hah! The power of the postage stamp! (Welcome to our postage mania!)
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing a mask as I read certain blogs, because I DO NOT want to catch PSP! They sure are cute, though :)
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful color in your blocks! I'm in love with the 4 patches still, more every time I see them. But those darling little postage stamp squares! Ack! I'm weakening!
ReplyDeleteSo much scrappy goodness in this post Diann. I really like your final layout for those 4 patches. Thanks for linking up with Oh Scrap!
