My only crocus bloom so far, and a tiny one at that!
But, it's a bloom, and some green to go with it, too.
I shared this mini quilt on Instagram the other day, so I thought I'd share it here, too. I'll call it a Throwback Thursday quilt, because I made it in 2011 after we visited Arches National Park in Moab, Utah. We loved Arches and really enjoyed our time there, so this provides a nice memory of it.
The kit I purchased just included the fabric for Delicate Arch and the borders and binding. I added the little buttons (to show rocks and birds) and stitched the sun-like spiral in the sky. This has been hanging in our bedroom ever since I finished it.
When Jen of Patterns by Jen sent out her March newsletter, I noticed this recipe that I decided to try, Baked Lemon Butter Tilapia. It was so good!
When Mike says I can make it again, I know it passed the biggest test!
😊
On our way to our local Costco the other day, we had to do a quick pull over because of this view.
I know you can hardly see him, but there is a beautiful bald eagle right in the center at the very top of the tree. Mike didn't have his good camera, so this was the best I could do with my phone. Fortunately, we did have our good binoculars, so we could see him like he was just a few feet away!
We watched this interesting mini series on Acorn TV earlier this week, "Code of a Killer." It's based on the true story of Sir Alec Jeffreys, a British geneticist, who developed techniques for using DNA to help in crime investigations. It was well done as a drama, and the true story and science behind it is fascinating.
Next Monday is my book club get together, and we're reading Votes for Women, which was recommended by our friend, Michele, of 3PandN, and Pennsylvania Piecemaker. Thanks again, Michele! This book is so interesting and I'm learning a lot! We of our generation owe a lot to these women of the late 1800s and early 1900s who fought so hard for our right to vote, as well as other rights.
I'm really looking forward to our discussion!
Hope you're having a great week! I'm joining in, as I do every Thursday, with LeeAnna and many other bloggers, for "I Like Thursday" at Not Afraid of Color.
Great likes. Love the quilt of delicate arch. My girls and I visited there about 27 years ago. Oh a crocus a promise of spring. How cool to see an eagle. I have been spotting quite a few around here the past year or so.
ReplyDeleteHi Diann! So many great likes this week. That bald eagle is SO cool. Gives me the shivers. That mini series looks really interesting - I love learning the science behind things. I'll have to see if we can get it on Prime. The tilapia looks delicious - definitely a keeper if you are asked to make it again! Happy Thursday! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeletesigns of spring always makes me happy don't you just love seeing the flowers bud out. Love eagles and seeing them - the arches, there are so many at the park and we have seen a lot of them, we camped inside the park one time a couple years ago and our campsite was in back of one of the smaller ones in the park and we were able to walk up to it a short hike from our camper
ReplyDeleteYay for the crocus! Glad spring is returning to your area.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty mini; the colors are spectacular, just like the Arches.
That tilapia looks wonderful. I love Chungah's recipes, AND you don't have to scroll through 50 photos of every angle of her food and paragraphs of unrelated stories to get to the recipe - lol!
I saw two eagles last week, how astounding they are!! And so big!
ReplyDeleteNothing growing around here yet. I'd love to see a yellow crocus! I had little purple ones in MD. the fish looks really good
I always pick up the best tips for shows and books from you, so I'm adding these to my list. Bald eagles never cease to amaze, do they? Such beautiful birds. It is overcast and rainy here, but we are soon heading off to warmer temps!
ReplyDeleteGreat list of things you like! Pretty Crocus, and for sure this Bald Eagle is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, I can see the spec of an eagle! I need to start looking for crocuses. How nice to see that little bit of bright color! Speaking of color, that lemon butter is quite bright!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to make your “Arches” mini. That tilapia sounds yummy. I keep forgetting to buy more fish- I love it but forget to buy it. We take for granted, the women who went before us. Hopefully, these types of books will remind us more frequently -especially for our younger women. Great post. Enjoy your day. Mary
ReplyDeleteWonderful likes, Diann. You have blooming- in your garden. Green with envy here this morning as a fresh snowfall overnight turned everything white again.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have such a great reminder of a wonderful place you two visited.
I too wish Mike had had his good camera- I would have liked to have seen that bald eagle too.
Yes, we do tend to forget our rights and freedoms were hard won for us by a band of courageous women.
hooray for crocuses! I've never grown those but I love spring flowers. And your arches quilt is so fun- I love all those Utah NPs; I think Canyonlands is my favorite, but I have fond memories of arches as a kid. One year we camped there and it was so windy the whole time and I remember my friend's hamburger blew off the spatula into the sandy dirt as her mom was trying to give it to her off the grill. That trip was something else...
ReplyDeleteSpring is fighting to take over it seems. Hopefully we'll start seeing a few blooms here and there, it's still pretty bleak. My Guy is part of a team that survey's and counts the eagles in our area. He got a couple of nice shots last weekend. You do need a good camera and a long lens.
ReplyDeleteI can see the eagle! "Eagle!" is like saying "Squirrel!" to me. Of course, I also look when someone says "Squirrel!" lol Your Arch quilt is very cool. I like the angle of the arch and the spiral sun especially.
