The other night I was not inspired in any way to cook dinner, until Mike said, "How about pancakes?" (Aha! Lightbulb moment!) And yummy, too!
I'm enjoying this little Gail Pan embroidery project that Kathy at Kathy's Quilts shared in her Sunday post. I got it traced and started stitching on it last night.
This will be a quick one to finish!
Monday morning I was interested in seeing Mercury transit the sun by "watching" it on NASA's website. But, meanwhile, we went to Starbucks for a coffee date, and this man had set up his telescope outside for people to look at Mercury and the sun in real time. So neat!
Tuesday was my day to go read aloud to a 3rd grade class at one of our elementary schools. I love reading to kids, and used to do it daily with my 5th graders. The best compliment came from one of the little girls as I was getting ready to leave - "When are you coming back?"
We enjoyed this movie on Netflix the other night - it's in the Hallmark Christmas movie genre - light and sweet. And hey, Africa, baby elephants, and Rob Lowe - what's not to like?!
And, finally, I confess to being a bit of a Chapstick addict, so when I saw this online the other day, I just had to laugh!
Hope you're having a great week!
Sounds like a great week, Diann!!
ReplyDeleteThe pancakes look scrummy!
Thank you for the lead to the pattern from Gail Pan, I sooo needed some little hand stitching project as I was getting withdrawal symptoms!
Now need to work out how to get my printer talking to my iPad, or visa versa!!
Love the telescope in the car park, very generous guy!
Great note about chapstick, made me laugh.
Have a happy rest of the week!!
Hugs,
Barbara xx
Hubby and I had pancakes ( and sausages) last night! He LOVES pancakes and I TRY to make them for dinner once a week, but that doesn't always happen. Oh, and I also watched Christmas in the Wild and really liked it - she was a brave woman to take that trip by herself (also very smart). Apparently I'm 'out of the loop' - have no idea what was going on with the sun and Mercury. I used to love reading to my grandkids when they were little - making different voices and sounds - I miss it.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I lost my purse chapstick - right out of it's special holder that was made especially for it. I'm either still in shock or mourning because I haven't replaced it yet even though I have several sticks of it here. lol
I love Hallmark movies and I love my chapstick too:) I think with the busy lifestyles these days kids don't get read to as often. I loved reading to my kids every night before bedtime.
ReplyDeletemy purse chapstick ended up in my camping knapsack and is in the workshop - I had to finally remember to get a new one after the living room chapstick ended up in my purse and I couldn't find another one in the house!! :)
ReplyDeleteI saw that movie listed on my Netflix I think I will try it.
wish my hubby was so easy to please - he is one of those rare people who only think breakfast food should be served in the morning - where as I think it can be anytime!
Fun week, and the ultimate compliment for a kid is asking you to come back. I have a lot of hand work and sat and watched a PBS show, and then Waking the Dead but I did take a gander at the Rob Lowe movie.
ReplyDeletebwaaahahahahaha the quote.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy serendipitous moment to look through the telescope at the coffee shop. Breakfast at dinner is great! I enjoy hearing about your adventures in retirement, and lucky you two to have such good time together. I always loved being read to...
Chuckling at the quote - I can relate! Pancakes are a great supper on these chilly November evenings. I started to watch that movie the other night, but didn't get into it. Maybe I'll have to try again, because - Rob Lowe. Haha! You've had some fun this week!
ReplyDeleteThose pancakes really look good. Do you use a mix or scratch? That little mini is going to be cute!
ReplyDeleteI watched that movie the other day whilst sewing. Well, I mostly listened to it, but did catch the elephants, lol! Sounds like you had a nice week.
ReplyDeleteMust be in the air--I am making blueberry pancakes and bacon for dinner tonight..salty AND sweet--oooh yes!!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh as I also like chapstick--have you seen the new flavors?? Nice post this week hugs, Julierose
I love chapstick, too! That poster made me laugh :)
ReplyDeleteHi Diann! How cool that you could look through the telescope to see Mercury!! I forgot about it, darn it. Those pancakes sure look delicious! Aww, how sweet that the kids wanted to know when you would return for reading. That's so fun, isn't it?!! Rob Lowe - ooh-la-la. I'd watch that movie just for him. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteOMG, the chapstick meme is ME-ME-ME!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteMmmm... pancakes. Looks like a cute little embroidery project. I haven't read aloud in a long time. How nice you're appreciated.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I’m a chapstick freak! Living in the dry intermountain west does that, so thanks for sharing the meme. And since I’m now recouping from double carpal tunnel surgery today(and limited in what I can do for the next several days) , I’m definitely going to be watching M
ReplyDeleteNetflix. That movie is top of the list.
I have a little issue with chapsticks too! And that is so funny because I have them all over the place too. I do breakfast for supper sometimes too when I really don't want to cook.
ReplyDeleteThat's so neat how the guy had set up his telescope and was willing to share.
Have a wonderful weekend, Diann!
As a chapstick addict, I adore that meme !!! Two of my girlfriends and I even had a password "sticks" and we would all reapply at the same time (I hate to admit it, but we were in our 30s at the time but it amused us). We haven't had breakfast for dinner for a long time, thanks for reminding me!! I saw part of the movie but haven't finished it yet. It is indeed Hallmarky :D Looking forward to seeing your Gail Pan embroidery! Have a great day Diann!
ReplyDeleteLOL on the chapstick. Breakfast for dinner-yes.
ReplyDeleteThe only pancakes I crave are my mother's rice pancakes -- so hearty and sweet, made from leftover white rice soaked in milk.
