I guess the black cats are fitting for October!
In order to have five purple blocks (which is what I've made of all the other colors), I added a simple square set on point of a pretty print that I found on my trip to Oregon.
Then, a decision had to be made. What scraps would I use for October's blocks - brown, black, or gray? With my gray sashing, that didn't seem like the right choice, and I didn't really want brown either, but how about black and white prints? Directions for this week's block can be found here.
Yes! That will work! I even found a last little bit of
some little penguins with their colorful caps.
It's always so fun to put these on the design wall and start thinking about a layout. I like this ROYGBIV layout, but will need to decide how to make the quilt wider.
More thinking to be done about this one!
Meanwhile, I finished up the two purple Tiny Rails blocks I was working on in September.
Lavendar and dark.
Here's what's happening with these blocks -
I think I will shoot for two more, for a quilt that would measure
about 50 x 50.
I've enjoyed my week of getting caught up - hope you've had a good one, too! See you over at SoScrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday!
Great progress, Diann. I am particularly impressed with your TT SaS!!!
ReplyDeleteSo did you have a hard time getting sewing again after your fun trip? Sometimes I find it hard and others I get all my batteries charged and am so anxious to get back in my room.
ReplyDeleteI do wish I had chosen a different setting fabric. I so like your gray! The white is ok, but maybe impractical in the long run!
ReplyDeleteYour tiny rais are awesome!
Wow, your TT’s just keep looking better and better! I’ve been drooling over them all year!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, LOVE the layout for your Tiny Rails!!! What a fun quilt that is going to be. It's DEFINITELY going on my list!
ReplyDeleteI love your scrap projects! Your scraps make beautiful quilts!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful post! So much fun to see your TT blocks all gathered up together on the design wall; it just makes me smile. And your Tiny Rail blocks -- wow, wow -- love all the colors! What grand fun!
ReplyDeleteAll your blocks are great, but I love, love, LOVE the tiny rails!
ReplyDeleteYour projects are really coming together so nicely! And yes on the choice of black and white against the gray, especially with the penguins. ;)
ReplyDeleteBoth of these projects are looking amazing! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteBut but but if your purple block has scary cats then it is perfect for Halloween month!!! Those rail fence blocks are tiny and painstakingly labor-intensive, but they will make an heirloom quilt!!! Are you running low on penguins? Just let me know and I will send them your way.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, the Tin Rails top is looking good!
