The End of August

I think I say this every month lately - but where did August go?  Even though September has always been a favorite month of mine, I'm still not quite ready for it this year.

The color of the month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge has been light blue, and I've really enjoyed my time with the light blue scraps!  This week, I finished up the last light blue Tiny Tuesday block, an hourglass block.  Angela generously gave us tutorials for three different sizes, and I chose the middle size.

I had fun laying all my blocks out on the design wall yesterday.  That's a fun rainbow!

I also worked on my string blocks this week.  I had been thinking I needed an alternate block for this quilt that was a bit different, so this month I made each block half blue and half neutral.

They could be sewn together like this -

Or this!

Here's what I chose -

I think I'll make the purple one this same way.

Maybe some all neutral blocks will be made, too!

Hope you've had a great week with your light blue scraps!

  3. I love the blocks and I agree the months fly by every month - I have heard the older you get the faster time flies by and I'm beginning to believe this as I am for sure getting older and time is flying - make it stand still please!!! ;)

  4. What a different song you sang about the month of August (since I found it to be the longest month on earth.) I really like your Hourglass block lined up in rainbow order with the rest of your TT blocks! Your Light/Bright BLUE block for the RSC was quite a surprise. I'll be looking forward to seeing where you go with this one, Diann.

  5. Great variation to your string blocks! That bit of neutral will really allow the other colors to sparkle and shine :)

  6. I am so glad you took time to lay out all your tiny blocks for our viewing, they are so much fun to look at;) You are making progress on your strings also-and you inspired me to work on my strings when the oldest grandson was over. I put him to work picking out which string gets sewn on next. We did 6 green blocks with a cream center stripe. Then I went on to do 6 more of the same.
