I made two Tiny Tuesday blocks this week, one in green and one in turquoise!
When I saw Sally's post last week, I had to try a few microspools. They are so cute! Thanks, Sally! And thanks, also, to Bea, for her tiny Shoo Fly block tutorial. I love how these both turned out!
So, finishing up March, and starting into April, I have these:
My hand stitching has also involved turquoise this week, for my Hand-Pieced QAL project. After fiddling with a pieced backing, and deciding I wouldn't be happy with that, I found this marbled light turquoise dot for the backing, and I'm handquilting it with Aurifil Light Turquoise thread.
I've been enjoying this slow stitching and seeing the progress on my hand-pieced project, which I've decided to call Sand, Sea, and Sky.
Hope you've had a wonderful beginning to April! Linking up to SoScrappy for Scraphappy Saturday and Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.
Your blocks look lovely Diann!
ReplyDeleteI haven’t joined in with with the rainbow scrap challenge, but am taking notes just in case I can find a use for them. Ohhh, actually four blocks would make a pencil case to be proud of, wouldn’t it! Ah well, on to the list they go!
Thank you so much for the links to the tutorials, it’s so nice to see where ideas come from, and “how to make”!
Hugs,
Barbara xx
Those blocks are so cool. That spool block is tempting me a lot, but just now I don't have the time to do it.
ReplyDeleteI just love Bea's little shoo fly block, adorable in your turquoise.
ReplyDeleteI love those tiny blocks!! I need to jump on that band wagon, but first must clean out some other projects!
ReplyDeleteI love how you are framing your tiny blocks with the grey grunge fabric... such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see your hand quilting... I haven't even finished my hand pieced blocks yet!
You are sew accomplished, Diann. Hand piecing and hand quilting and tiny blocks ... amazing! I love the sea sand and sky theme in your hand pieced blocks. Looking forward to seeing this finished ... :) Pat
ReplyDeleteStill itching to try those microspoolies. Maybe a mug rug? And i will try yo join tiny tuesday next year. Your tinies are indpiring!
ReplyDeleteYour two TT blocks are so cute! And I can’t wait to see your hand-stitched project all completed!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the microspools! It's so cute, as is the shoo fly block. Love the other aqua project, too. Hand piecing! I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose tiny blocks look lovely together.
ReplyDeleteYour tinies are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI've been resisting those microspools, but it's only a matter of time...
Pretty tiny blocks! Love your grey sashings, and turquoise is such a beautiful color, I understand you love it ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your tiny blocks. I am totally addicted to Sally's microspools!!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNice looking TT blocks. I can't wait to catch up on the recent ones I've missed. Finding I was woefully short of nice aqua scraps, I picked up a few FQs on my way to retreat. I think I'm falling for aqua!
ReplyDeleteYour TT blocks look so perfect. Precision piecing agrees with you. The hand piecing project is coming along. I tried hand piecing years ago thinking it would be a great take along project, but I never did get very good at it. Now I'm trying hexies, but my fingers cramp up and I have trouble seeing the tiny stitching, so I think machine stitching is my go to method.
ReplyDeletePat
your tiny blocks are inspirational for me - thanks
ReplyDeleteLOVE your Tiny Tuesday block to get AQUA month started off right!! Best of luck with the hand quilting. Better you than me, as hand quilting gives me tendonitis in my thumb which is NO FUN!!
ReplyDeleteI do love your variety in the tiny blocks. I keep forgetting how tiny they are.
ReplyDeleteI like your backing for the Hand Pieced quilt. I decided to go with a single piece also, and I've got 4 blocks quilted so far. Smacking myself in the head for not pulling out my rarely used Aurifil thread! Love the name you chose. :)
I love the microspools and backing for your Hand-Pieced quilt. Great work!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilting on the hand pieced quilt along! So fun to use that color thread.... I am debating if I go with white or blues to quilt mine...need to finish getting it together first.
ReplyDeleteI really like those blocks. The teal speaks to me. I really love that color.
