I Like Thursday #111 - It's the Holiday Season!

I like Christmas music playing on the radio, and I'm always singing along!  This one gets stuck in my head now and then -

"Happy holiday

Happy holiday
While the merry bells keep ringing
Happy holiday to you!
It's the holiday season
And Santa Claus is coming back
The Christmas snow is white on the ground
When old Santa gets into town
He'll be coming down the chimney, down
Coming down the chimney, down"

Evidently this song was written by Irving Berlin.  Click here if you want to hear Andy Williams singing it!

I like listening to holiday music sung live, and got to do just exactly that when my friends and I went to our dinner theater evening out last week.  It was a really fun show!

I like this cute Rudolph towel that a friend gave me!  Can you see the dangly legs?!

I found my favorite gingerbread men cookies at the grocery the other day - yum!

And a favorite part of my holiday season is getting out the special mugs - here's one that I really like!

Hope you're having a great week, friends!

  1. The link you gave for Happy Holiday took you to Amazon.com, which would/will charge you to listen to the song. I found it on youtube.com for free...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LLacwqxC6Q. Your Christmas time coffee/tea mug is so cute :). You can keep the gingerbread men :), but I do love to get fruitcake ( yes, I'm one of 'those' who actually like it). Your reindeer towel is cute, too. I got my "Santa, I can explain" towel out the other day and hung it up in our kitchen along with potholders with Santa on them. Merry Christmas!

  3. And a happy Holiday season to you my friend! I have not had a lot of time to decorate this year but I do have a few favorite snowman and a wall hanging up. The wreath went on the door yesterday.

  4. Hi Diann! Oh, I just love that mug with the lights on it. That reminds me - I've got to switch up my mugs for our Saturday and Sunday morning coffee break with Sue's mom. She usually uses a mug with hearts on it but I have some Christmas ones I should pull out for the season. Thanks for reminding me! Happy Happy Thursday to you. ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. I love that Rudolph towel. I too like Christmas music. I notice most stations here play the oldie but goodie versions which I prefer, but Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" is a winner. Enjoy!

  7. what is it about Xmas coffee mugs? I have so many and I don't even have all of them out and the window ledge by the coffee pot has more then enough out to use. I haven't gotten any cookies out neither bought or made and need to start this weekend I think. Melanie and Aniya won't be out to bake cookies until next weekend so awhile to wait, I think I need to make at least a little before that.

  8. I love live Christmas music too! I went to a Messiah sing-along last Monday and it was so much fun. I have some friends in a local choral society and I'm looking forward to their Christmas concert in a couple weeks as well. There's just something about being all together with other people in the holiday spirit!

  9. Great likes. Happy Hoiidays was written by Irving Berlin and originally performed in Holiday Inn which starred Bing Crosby and Marjorie Reynolds, and Fred Astaire....one of my favorite holiday movies.

  11. It is such fun to bring out the special Christmas things, I have some mugs I use just this time of year too! Plus, I recently found two more at the thrift store that match a set of dishes I have, woohoo!! I love the holidsya! Today is sewing time with Christmas movies. We are supposed to get 10-20 inches of snow starting early tomorrow morning and lasting until Tuesday.

  12. Oh I enjoyed this! I'm singing along with Happy Holiday. Bing Crosby sings it in my favorite Christmas movie, Holiday Inn, and I can almost say and sing the parts word for word. Love that Rudolph towel! I just got my Christmas mug out yesterday. :)
What brand are those iced gingerbread cookies?
