Thinking about what represents summer in Colorado, I came up with beautiful blue skies, white, fluffy clouds, bright (and hot!) sun, and...
rabbits! Yes, this is the year of the wild rabbits all throughout our neighborhood!
So I pulled these fat quarters from my stash - orange, white, and blue! :)
Flying Geese were calling to me!
To fit the top of the little chest, it only needs to be about 12 x 18, so this was all I needed -
A backing made from two of the fat quarters, and some straight line quilting following the shape of the flying geese -
and I decided the sky blue would make a great binding!
Perfect!
The leftover pieces from these fat quarters are already finding their way into my other scrappy projects!
Sharing at Quilting is more fun than Housework for Oh Scrap!
Perfect little piece! The addition of the rabbit figure completes the vignette.
ReplyDeletewe always have rabbits roaming the yard at this time of year - I do not see them as much in the winter. Love your small quilts on the chest of drawers.
ReplyDeleteThat is the perfect size to whip up quickly! Those darn rabbits are here too.
ReplyDeleteVery cute topper! We had bunnies this spring, but they have gone elsewhere, or the hawks have gotten them :( Now we have, literally, thousands upon thousands of grasshoppers on our five acres. Talk about awful! They have even eaten through the window screens!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love quick projects! Your topper is beautiful and really does brighten up the space! We have a couple wild bunnies here as well. It's fun watching them! I keep hoping the neighborhood Hawk stays far away from them!
ReplyDeleteSEW... was this rabbit project actually a SQUIRREL?!? (Quilt Diva Julie can such a bad influence.)
ReplyDeleteYour quick little squirrel has bunnies!
ReplyDeleteVery cute Diann. The bunny fabric was a perfect addition. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteHooray for a fun, fast finish! It's so happy in those summer colors, and the little bunny fabric is really cute :)
ReplyDeleteI love this project! The fabric is so much fun!! :) Well done!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Very pretty colors together, and so cute with the rabbits. We have wild rabbits also. We actually welcome them into the garden (I know, crazy!) because we feel sorry for them and enjoy watching them.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Blue and yellow is a classic color combo for a reason.
ReplyDeleteSo cute and just the right touch for that spot!!
ReplyDeleteDarling! It looks great and summery there.
ReplyDeletethe blue and orange are fabulous together! It's such a cute table topper, with those rabbits riding the flying geese.
ReplyDeleteThat's just making me smile out loud Diann! Love it, love the rabbits fabric in the geese, how clever, and that blue, ahh! Thanks for linking up your rabbits/geese/squirrel with DrEAMi!
