I like power tools! Lol!
I really like this photo that Mike took on Monday, just a short drive from where we live.
A friend had posted on Facebook that she saw these bald eagles on her way to work that morning, so after a message to her to find out where they were, we were off to see them. Didn't he catch a great shot of the one eagle landing on the branch?! And the amazing blue sky! We also realized that the one sitting on the lower branch was "talking" to the one that was landing. That's the first time I've heard what eagles sound like.
I liked finishing up my heart mini on Sunday afternoon. It's fun having something festive on my little chest!
A new challenge for Project Quilting was posted on Sunday, so I got right to work. The theme is called "Bold and Brave" - "Your project should be about bravery: Try a new technique! Honor someone's courage! Conquer your own fears!"
Here's just a hint of what I've been working on - what could it be?! :) I've really liked participating in this event. I think there will be about six challenges altogether.
I liked this new chili recipe that my mom shared with me. I made it over the weekend.
I did make a couple of changes to it - I used crushed tomatoes instead of tomato sauce, and also added some water to it since I like my chili more like soup.
And this week I am reading -
Did you know Tom Hanks is a writer? It turns out he is, and (I think!) a good one, and I've really enjoyed his first book! It is a book of short stories, and the one thing the stories have in common is every one of them has something about a typewriter. So, the title, "Uncommon Type."
Hope you're having a great week! I'm joining in with all of the I Like Thursday bloggers at Not Afraid of Color - thanks, as always, to LeeAnna for hosting!
Beautiful eagle pic! I use one can of crushed tomatoes in my chili along with a can of Campbell's tomato soup (undiluted).
ReplyDeleteGreat eagle pics. The table topper is lovely. I agree I like crushed tomatoes too in my chili.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I live over in Greeley and would love to know where those eagles are at. Also would love to meet you. Sharon
ReplyDeleteLove the eagle pic-such beautiful birds. We just love them. I didn't know TH was a writer!
ReplyDeletelove your eagles. The chili recipe is interesting I keep meaning to use a good ground turkey in recipes more than ground beef so should try it in my chili recipe
ReplyDeletewell, I sure like Tom Hanks. I didn't know but am not surprised he writes. Funny people are usually very smart and good with words. I'll have to check this out. Writing a book of short stories is on my list to do one day. Maybe it should start soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Diann,
ReplyDeleteWOWEE - look at those eagles!!!!! SO COOL! I also love your mini hearts - the fabrics you used are great and the staggered hearts. Well, isn't that interesting - I had no idea Tom Hanks was a writer! Huh. I'll have to check out that book. Thanks for sharing that with us. ~smile~ Roseanne
That eagle picture is great!! And I love your valentine table runner! I especially like the aqua print with the red flowers- I love that color combination!
ReplyDeleteInteresting - I did not know that Tom Hanks is published. Eagles are neat - I was just told about a nesting pair a few towns away - its a big deal because they're still endangered locally.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a lot going on this week. Enjoy your snow! And how fun to catch sight of the eagles - aren't they marvelous? Good to know about Hanks' book - I had wondered about it. Now I know! Oh - and your Valentine runner is perfect!
ReplyDeleteYay it's Thursday! :) What is that "power tool" used for - some kind of snow clearing? I adore your Valentine table runner. And I am a big fan of crushed tomatoes also and like my chili soupy - that recipe looks good!
ReplyDeleteNever heard eagles and would so love to. Great photo!
ReplyDeleteYour valentine runner turned out so sweet just like the occasion. Chili is like comfort food this time of year.
Tom must be so talented...will have to keep this book in mind.
That eagle photo is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI forgot Tom Hanks had this book out. Your first "tool" photo looks like fun. But, that Eagle photo is just so cool.
ReplyDeleteThe valentine runner turned out very pretty. mary in Az
