So I have spent the week doing a lot of this...covered in my favorite quilt, wrist on ice or elevated, and my ipad tuned to the multitude of lovely quilt blogs for some fabric and pattern inspiration.
There's also been a tiny bit of this...thanks to a sweet friend who knew I was going to need something more to do! Turns out, coloring is quite soothing and I think I will be doing some more in the days to come.
Since we are just about to the end of April, I did want to get out my RSC blocks and see how I'm progressing. I haven't figured out how to sew one-handed yet, but one-handed photography (with my tiny camera) is somewhat doable!
Inspiration from Gayle got me started on some Monkey Wrench blocks, and so far I've made two in each of our colors of the month. I love these little blocks!
I've also been making six 16 patch blocks every month, and here is my collection of those. Somehow a green block squeezed its way into the picture. I'm sure there will be some more greens in this quilt's future!
And my Scrap Jar Stars - loving these more each month!
I had been working on Double Four Patch blocks, too, but did only a few in orange before my fall from grace (or my graceful fall???), so those will have to wait awhile to get caught up.
I am definitely having some sewing withdrawal. To go from sewing everyday to not being able to do anything has been tough. Somehow, I will figure out a way to get back to it! Things could be worse - I met a funny little lady in Starbucks who told me she once fell and broke both wrists at the same time. Oh dear! That had me counting my blessings!
Here's hoping everyone has a wonderful weekend - and that you will share all of this week's progress for those of us who are just armchair quilters right now!
Wishing you a very quick convalescence so you can get back to all your beautiful rainbow scrap projects.
ReplyDeleteA little boy in my daughters fifth grade class fell off the monkey bars and broke both wrists at the same time. He was quite a site running around with both arms all casted. Hoping for a speedy recovery, I'm sure you will be back to your fabrics before you know it.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping very hard that you heal quickly. It's so hard not to be able to do hand work!
ReplyDeleteI love all your blocks, and you're a stronger person than I am if you can limit yourself to two monkeys a month!
Oh no! Sending healing thoughts. Coloring patterns is a great idea...and you can always pet some fabric. It tends to be soothing as well =)
ReplyDeleteYes, I have been petting some fabric! That helps! Thanks!
DeleteSo many lovely scrappy projects on the go!
ReplyDeleteHeal up quick so you can add to the collections!
I pray you will heal quickly and come up with many new quilting ideas while waiting.
ReplyDeletePraying for a quicky recovery. Rest and use your time for planning new quilts. You do have a great collection of beautiful blocks. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteoh girl!
ReplyDeleteIs your wrist all plated and screwed now? MIL broke her wrist and she got plates and screws to put the pieces together again. Good news? You really should be as good as new before long!! Your scraps will be waiting.
ReplyDeleteWell, rats! Hope you mend quickly and then you can get back to that therapuetic sewing for the wrist, the mind and the soul. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteHeal fast! I love your scrap jar stars.
ReplyDeleteHey, with May being green, you won't be too far behind. Hope you are able to sew soon. Your blocks are so inspiring and I am glad you shared them on Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteLove all the projects you are working on!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking of you yesterday and thought I have to ask how things are going. Glad to hear it will only be a few weeks. The scrap jar stars are sucking me in, LOL The coloring is fun although I haven't found a lot of time for it,and I don't want to find the time for it like you did either.
ReplyDeleteThose scrap jar stars are wonderful. Having admired yours I began a couple, definitely hooked now. All the best for your recovery and keeping occupied while its healing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks. Sorry to hear about your wrist. I crashed on my bike, broke my left wrist in 2011. Had surgery, plate and screws, a cast a week, therapy for a few months. Therapy made all the difference. I sewed throughout the recovery. Slowly and mostly with my right hand doing most of the work. Not a pleasant experience, but it works great now. Good luck with your recovery.
