New year, new logo - and I'm looking forward to participating in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge again for 2026!
It's always fun to start the new year with a new color and new projects, too. Back in October I decided to make a Jacob's Ladder block just to see how I felt about making them for the 2026 Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Sometime in December, I also made one in red. They are such a classic block, and go together quickly.
This week I pulled out some pieces of blue from my stash, and sewed another block!
The background is what I am calling an ecru print (which Mr. Google says is a beige with yellow tones!) and I'm going to try to keep with that background color throughout all these blocks. A friend gave me quite a bit of yardage in the ecru colorway, so I thought I'd try and use it up on this project.
Then I made one in lighter blues -
Ooh, I'm liking this!
The Jacob's Ladder blocks need larger chunks of the prints to make the 4.5 inch sections, so I'm digging into the fat quarter type stash for them. But I also have lots of smaller blue scraps. I've been sorting them into darks and lights and thinking about what can be done with them.
You know I'll figure out something! 😊

Nice blocks! Great way to use your ecru yardage too. How many RSC projects are you going to make.?
ReplyDeleteThe ecru makes such a nice backdrop for the blues! I like your start. I might unofficially participate in RSC - I'm feeling the pull.
ReplyDeleteJacob's Ladder is a fun block to make for sure!! I loke how yours are set together..I am waffling (as usual) with starting RSC--the last time I joined, many years ago, I ended up with SO MANY unfinished projects on hand that I am still working on them years later...of course I could just do one, but evidently I didn't realize that at the time...;(((( S I G H ...I do enjoy watching everyone's choices though a lot...Hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteOf course you will figure something out, we have faith in you! On Jacob's ladder how is the pressing coming out-will the blocks nest?
ReplyDeleteJacob's Ladder is such a good traditional block. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great block for the rainbowscrapchallenge! Hopefully digging the bigger chunks from the fat quarter stash will help to provide even more of the smaller leftovers. It will be fun to see what you come up with to use up those smaller bits.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with that bin of small scraps, Diann! Your new BLUE blocks are a lovely addition to your Jacob's Ladder Collection. Using a single background seem SEW brave! I normally use multiple backgrounds in case I run out before I'm finish making blocks.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Buckeye Beauty & Jacob's Ladder were on my list for this year & I resisted. But I may weaken after seeing yours for a month or two. Wink!
ReplyDeleteI'm so overwhelmed by my scraps and the too many ways they are stored, that I'm tempted to give them all away. I have so much stash and I never seem to get to it as I try to deal with the scraps. Maybe everyone else's ideas will stimulate me to dig in.

I love the colors you have chosen - they all look good!!
ReplyDeleteYour Jacob's Ladder blocks are looking great, Diann! I have a lot of that background ecru natural color to use up. I will have to get serious about a plan. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Jacob's Ladder blocks in different colors.
ReplyDeleteLove how the blocks look all together. Wonder how many different layouts there are for Jacob's Ladder blocks. This looks to be a fantastic block for RSC 2026! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to have a plan at the start of RSC. Your blocks look great, I certainly know of it but never stitched any myself.
ReplyDeleteJacob's Ladder is a favorite block of mine. I know, under your guidance, it will result in a stunning 2026 RSC quilt.
ReplyDeletebeautiful - I love the idea of using light and dark of the same colorway!! This will be amazing
ReplyDeleteYou always have such pretty scraps! Those Jacob Ladder blocks will make a fun quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun Diann. Your jacobs ladder blocks will make a gorgeous colorful quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love Jacob's Ladder block. I did a quilt in blue and green, and would probably make another one in a different colourway if time permits. I love how you used two fabric but use both for the 4-patch units and the HSTs. It changes everything and I love it. Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteI do love Jacob's Ladder--great RSC block choice!!! Looking good.
ReplyDeleteNice choice for RSC. (Note to self -- pu the new badge and add to my blog!)
