Starburst is a finish! It began with the pink blocks I made in January, inspired by the blue sashing fabric I used in Pieces of My Life.
One hundred quarter star blocks - using 96 different fabrics - were sewed for this quilt all throughout the year, and this month I pieced them into the top. I have been quilting it this week, and got the binding on Wednesday afternoon.
A couple evenings of hand stitching the binding down and voila! Starburst!
Aren't scrappy quilts just the best?!
I love this backing! So glad there will be more to use for future quilts.
I think this might be the first time I have ever finished a Rainbow Scrap Challenge in the month of November, in the year I started it! (I'm such a slow finisher...) I'm not sure if Starburst will be given away or live at my house, but for now I'm just going to enjoy it right here.

ReplyDeleteWow! What a beautiful quilt, Diann! I’m working on hand quilting a RSC quilt from 2023 and I have a couple of sets of blocks that I have not even put together yet! Well done of finishing this RSC quilt the same year you started it. Spectacular quilt! Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a gorgeous quilt finish!! It is really beautiful Diann'))) a perfectly named "Starburst" piece. Hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed seeing this one made and it's even prettier finished! Using that blue background was a very good decision. Finishing an RSC in the same year was exactly my thought when I saw your post - that is impressive. I hope you'll post a photo of it every once in awhile - I'll miss it. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh! It's so pretty! Enjoy Rainbow Burst! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful finish, and a perfect size for your ottoman.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this quilt Diann. So beautiful and the backing material is just perfect too!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your finish that started THIS YEAR! What fun it will be to look at and remember all those different fabrics. The blue background really makes those colors pop. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteIt’s fabulous! And a finish in the year started!! Oh my gosh, that’s an accomplishment! I agree with other’s comments. From the background to the backing, to the 100 different fabrics and a finish, it’s a winner! 🏆
ReplyDeleteStarburst is beautiful! This was a perfect project for the RSC and you pieced and quilted it in one year, wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this quilt--the block design, the mix of 100 prints, the blue background, the layout. It's all fantastic! Congratulations on a beautiful finish, and on getting an RSC project done in the same year as starting it! I don't think I've ever done that.
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with this quilt. Congratulation on this wonderful in-same-year finish. (I've only been able to do that once too.) Love the backing too. One 100 different fabrics gives me goosebumps. I want to look at them all, lol. In 100 years, it will be a fabric study quilt for collectors, I guess. ;^)
ReplyDeleteAwesome finish. It’s beautiful. I bought that backing too and used it on an RSC finish this summer. Such a fun backing.
ReplyDeleteFantastic finish. I love the blue background you used. I've hardly ever gotten most of my RSC project to the flimsy stage, let alone finished. But I did just put together a hollow 9-patch started in 2022. I think I'll will donate that one to Cynthia for Many Hands and Many Hearts. I can't wait to see what you plan to do for next year's RSC.

I’ve been watching your RSC Starburst project all year long - beautiful finish! Had you already sketched out your color scheme & idea from the very beginning of this project? If I remember correctly you said the blue you used was Moda Grunge Sea. I would love to mimic your idea for next years RSC. I enjoy your blog so very much - Beth in AL
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a beautiful finish. I've admired it all year as you worked on it. If I thought I'd finish it, I'd start one too. So, I will enjoy yours from afar.

ReplyDeleteStarburst is just so yummy! It's been fun watching it come to life & kudos all over for getting it done this year! There may be one of these in my future! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my, what a glorious finish! Starburst is gorgeous! I think you should keep it, and then leave it to me in your will. HA! Just kidding of course, but that’s just how much I love it. Stellar finish, Diann (pun intended). 💙
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteWowzer , Diann! Why else can I say? It is a burst of beauty! It has been such a joy to follow your progress on this quilt. I cannot wait to see what will be your next project. Congrats on your gorgeous finish.
ReplyDeleteI love it, and have enjoyed seeing it come together, one colour at a time! Well done Diann.
ReplyDeleteYes, a fantastic finish. I like how the rainbow colours contrast so well with the blue.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Is that ever gorgeous! Congrats on the finish!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good quilt! You could be very proud! Love the blue for the background. It helps the other colours to shine. What a wonderfull inspiration. Have so many sraps from SAHRR 2025! Following all your post, but less time to comment. Greetings! Eva
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt! That background fabric is just perfect. Finishing an RSC quilt in November is impressive. How big is this beauty?

ReplyDeleteA beautiful finish! I'm not sure what it is about RSC quilts, but they are some of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteYour Starburst RSC quilt is gorgeous, Diann! I really love how your blue background fabric sets off all the colors in your scrap fabrics. Congratulations on finishing it "early!"
ReplyDeleteWell I had to come and see Starburst, and wowsers, what a glorious quilt! I have been contemplating what I will do for the RSC in 2026--this is definitely tempting and so easy to sew up a few each month. It looks great on the stool, and wow what a wonderful backing fabric, just perfect for a rainbow quilt.
