A finish to share and a fabric bonanza!
My little challenge to myself to use up every last bit of the jelly roll that I made Glowing Hearts out of is complete! Here's the last part - the placemat. In last week's post I showed how the two blue squares were touching and that really didn't look very good, so I did fix that. It was easy to do - just rip out one long seam, flip that section around, and re-sew. It looks so much better!
The backing and binding are the same blue-green batik that I finished Glowing Hearts with.
And here are the three things I made with that jelly roll!
And the fabric bonanza - a dear quilting friend gave me two paper grocery sacks filled with leftover pieces from projects that she didn't anymore. She mostly sews from kits and doesn't use the scraps afterwards, so I got to bring home some goodies. This is from one of the sacks - a few pieces were what I would call scraps, but a lot of them were at least fat eighth sized or bigger. These will work wonderfully for my Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects!
There's another whole bag to go through, which I will probably look at today, and then I think I will pass what I don't want on to a church group here that takes donations for charity quilts that they make.
Have a great Wednesday!

What a wonderful gift--and you've made such pretty works from that jelly roll!! I have 3 JR's left in my stash and want to use them--I like the placemat idea a lot; I do love how coordinated those rolls are--and that I don't have to precut...rotary cutting is getting to be quite an issue for me--may have to return to just using scissors...Hugs, Julierose

ReplyDeleteYou got a lot of milage out of that jelly roll! it's always nice to get a refresh to your scrap bins. If yours are like mine, you have some scraps that have been there for awhile.
