I've been playing with my aqua scraps this week, and I think I have a little of everything. Light to dark, green/blue to more blue/green - whatever name you would give them. These squares will become two 16 patch stars in the next few days.
But first, I made some quarter star blocks. I've been making eight of these each month.
There are 68 total now - 32 more needed to complete my goal of 100. It's time to decide how I will fill those spaces in. Add more of the rainbow colors? Or some neutral stars? I'm not sure yet. And that will just make a small quilt of about 40 inches square. So, then, add some borders?
Decisions, decisions!
Meanwhile, here are the 64 rainbow blocks laid out in the star shape they can make. I like this, too!

I like the first layout, but they are both very nice. Maybe you will have to keep making blocks and do both layouts!
ReplyDeleteI also like that 1st layout, but the 2nd one is quite a beauty, too...
ReplyDeleteNice work on these stars...hugs for a great weekend Julierose
I love the array of color in that first photo. Your quarter star are so pretty, either arrangement is a beauty! Hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm always surprised and pleased with the range that constitutes each monthly color. Your ongoing stars/flowers are going to be a wonderful quilt.
ReplyDeleteBoth options look really good. I found that I've used a lot of the darker shades already, but had lots of the lighter ones to play with so far.
ReplyDeleteI like both choices but the first one is more unusual and the layout makes it vibrant. Can't wait to see which you choose!
ReplyDeleteThose corner star blocks are very fun. I like the first layout, it has so many possibilities. Looking forward to seeing how you decide to proceed.
ReplyDeleteBoth options are stunning... but I'm a sucker for stars! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteBoth layouts yield bright and stunning designs. I’m glad that it’s you, not me, that has to eventually decide! Looking forward to seeing your 16-patch Star blocks!
ReplyDeleteI love the first layout the best. It’s the most unique to me. Whichever you decide it’ll be a good size for a baby quilt. Like Glowing Hearts. Do you have a donation organization, or are they in your Hope Chest for future family babies? 😍.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty aquas you are working with , Diann. Oh I just love both layouts of your quarter squares, but when I saw the first one, I immediately thought "Starburst" - bursting with color! Love it. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI vote the first layout & with more rainbow colored blocks. But you do you!!! And you've got some lovely squares for your 16 patches.
ReplyDeleteI always love aqua! I like that first layout - different and interesting
ReplyDeleteBoth layouts are nice. I think I had chosen the first one, It's an interesting and fun design. Why not continue adding to both designs?
ReplyDeleteYou are just over the 66% threshold with your star blocks. Clearly you are well on your way to reaching the 100 blocks needed. I had fun imagining different ways to finish off the quilt. Your layout suggests borders. I can imagine a skinny yellow flange stitched between the starburst and solid border of the background fabric. I was also thinking you could have fun piecing the border with skinny strips on the diagonal, alternating between a rainbow color and the background.
ReplyDeleteSolution: make two quilts! Lol. Do the star has to be in the centre? you could expend the quilt on two sides only. Thinking out loud, that's all. I love the second design too. Enjoy the dithering. ;^)
ReplyDeletePretty, no matter what you decide.
ReplyDeleteBoth layouts look great. I'm with the others...nothing wrong with making two quilts :)
ReplyDeleteWell, whatever you decide, it will be a pretty quilt with all those happy colors!
ReplyDeleteThis looks lovely. I really like the stars but you do you. Thanks for sharing your options for us to ponder with you.
