Slow Sunday Stitching

Here's our view outside on Saturday morning - cold and snowy!

And here's the view inside - appropriate, right?!  This is Melisa at PinkernPunkin's Winter SAL.  I thought it would be fun to work on right now.  Turns out it may take me until next winter to finish this one!

I still have more of the individual borders to do,
but wanted to work on the header a little, too.

Melisa has released five of the little stamps, and they are so cute!  I can't wait to stitch them.  Check out her latest post about the project here.

On Thursday I spent some time at a friend's house where we had some crochet lessons from another friend who is quite accomplished at it.  We've done this before, a couple years ago, but neither of us could remember what to do and lost any skills we might have had!   This time around I'm going to keep practicing!

So I've got plenty to do for some slow Sunday stitching, and
I'll be linking up at Kathy's Quilts.

  1. Oh, ich bin auch dabei, dieses Winterbild zu sticken. So schöne Motive. Wird es nicht diesen Winter fertig, dann im nächsten. Eine schöne Arbeit.
    Liebe Grüße

  2. The Winter cross stitch is going to be pretty, Diann. Love the borders of each little square. Isn't crochet fun?? You look like you're on a roll there with that lovely crochet. You'll be surprised how quickly crochet grows.

  3. Oops....I forgot to say your cross stitch fits in perfectly with your wintry world outside. It looks a wee bit chilly to me; though I must say your view is lovely.

  4. You have a blue theme today! I just looked at Melissa’s pattern for this cross stitch project…lots of cute little stamp patterns for all those squares. A perfect project for you to work on as you gaze out the window at the snow.

  5. Snow is so pretty when you don't have to get out in it. It's really cold here, but no snow. You've got a great start on the sampler. I agree Melisa's stamps are all really cute. Enjoy your crochet and slow stitching time today, it's definitely a day to hang out with a sweater on the top and a quilt over your legs.

  8. Melisa's winter stitchery is so cute, and you've got a great start on it. How fun to crochet with friends! That's how I learned, in my 20s while working at a bank, a co-worker taught me and others on our lunch breaks. I was a whiz at it and finished projects quickly, but I quit practicing at some point and now am not a whiz - lol!

  9. Our snow had a little bit of a melt but now we are suppose to get very cold (for me!) I want to learn to crochet so I can make the kitchen scrubbies.

  11. fresh snow! how pretty - and cold! winter for sure. Crochet is usually pretty easy to pick up after it is forgotten for awhile the stitches seem to pop into your memory.

  12. Sounds like you have the perfect day to cross stitch. Crochet a little each day to lock it into your brain!

  13. It's spitting snow here right now and we're expecting below-freezing temps by this afternoon. Serious enough around here that church was cancelled. I'm with you on crochet; I need a refresh, too.

  14. So glad you are working on the Winter Stamps. Now that I’m home I will print off the charts. Is your fabric white or pale blue? I liked Melisa’s Rit dyed Aida! I’ve never used Rit on cross stitch fabric, just tie-dyed tshirts back in the day!!

  20. I think I may just have to start that Winter cross-stitch myself. You have gotten a good start on it with that cute little snowman by the title. I hope you continue learning to crochet. You can make a lot of pretty things with it.
