Slow stitching an April heart...

While we were away on our trip, Melisa posted her April heart called "Early Birds."  As soon as I could get to it, after we got home, I traced and prepped it for stitching, and Friday night I stitched the heart outline.

This will be way more fun when there's a little more color in it!

There - that's better! (After some coloring and stitching last night.)

Can you tell this is an evening photo?
Such a difference in the white background color!

I think it's too early for baby birds here, but we did learn about a neat bird identification app the other day, and it works really well.   We've used it to identify birds by their sound, and it's remarkably accurate!

  2. A friend has the Merlin app and used it the other day when I was with her. Amazing that it identified several species by their songs in less than a minute. Your bird embroidery is perfect for this time of year.

  9. It is so exciting to see your "Early Birds" in the works, Diann. Oh my the fabric that you chose is gorgeous!!!!It is looking just beautiful. Thank you so much for stitching it and for telling about the bird app. We have been seeing and hearing a lot of new birds in our neck of the woods this year. Hope you are settling in and have your "back home chores" completed. Have a great day, sweet friend. Hugs.

  10. Nice pattern, it’s going to be great stitched up! The signs are up where I live in the new forest saying keep the dog out of the grass and on the path because of ground nesting birds. There’s a lot of tweeting going on!

  13. I've heard of the Merlin app and have looked at the database on my Chromebook, but haven't downloaded the app. I heard a bird today that I hadn't heard before and thought of Merlin, but have no idea how to capture the song to have it identified. I need a teenager.
