My mom had successful surgery yesterday to repair her broken hip, and by afternoon was doing pretty well. I am dressed up in Covid clothes - N95 mask, face shield, special gown and gloves. All this gear is hot! 🥵 I am so hoping that she will have a negative test soon!
By late afternoon, the hospital's physical therapist had
Mom out of bed and sitting in a chair!
Next step is a rehab placement.
You can probably imagine that I've needed some stitching therapy! Friday evening, I quickly prepped and traced the March One Stitch at a Time Club design from Kathy Schmitz, "Bear Necessities." I love this little bear on his (or her?) bicycle, taking some honey to the farmer's market! And the green outfit - so cute!
I'm sure I'll continue to need this slow stitching therapy,
so I'll probably make lots of progress on this little guy, all week long!

Keep stitching. Good for the soul. So happy to hear the good news. Wish you didn't have to wear all that garb but at least you're able to see her!
ReplyDeleteI just read your last post and hurried to today to see if you had posted an update on your Mom. I'm thrilled to see a photo of her and I'm so happy you get to be with her. She and you have my prayers for a fast recovery (sounds like she has a great doctor), that she tests negative for Covid, and that her future rehab situation works out very well for all of you.
ReplyDeleteSending lots of hugs and best wishes. I am sure your mom is in good hands and she will be on the mend soon. I am glad you have something to keep your hands busy. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your Mom's surgery went well. Hopefully you won't have to do too much stress stitching while your mom recovers. Sounds like she's doing well and is on her way to getting back on her feet.
ReplyDeleteGreat news! Stitch on! Will your little bear piece be all green?
ReplyDeleteso glad the surgery went well and hope she is testing negative soon - PT should help a lot they get them out of bed so fast now and moving and that really helps.
ReplyDeletePrayers for a full recovery! My Dad broke his hip at 90 and recovered very well. That stitchery is just adorable.
ReplyDeleteI’m so relieved the hip repair went well. It’s amazing how quickly they get them up and moving now. I think it makes a huge difference. Good choice for stress stitching! The bear on his / her bicycle is so cute!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your mom is doing well! She must be a “tough cookie”! (That’s a compliment) Covid garb is no joke! I think of all the medical people that did that for 18 months or more! Stress stitching is a great alternative to stress eating, my usual reaction! That bicycling bear is a great one! Hoping for a Neg Covid test soon. For all concerned! Still sending healing thoughts your way!
ReplyDeleteI am glad your mother is recovering well from the broken hip. I hope she can test negative from COVID soon also. Stitching is a good stress reducer. You have sure had your share lately. That bear is adorable. Best wishes for your mom's continued recovery. I hope this is a better week.
ReplyDeleteHope your mother makes a speedy recovery. I haven't worked on my Kathy Schmitz blocks in a long time. You seem to always keep up!
ReplyDeleteGreat news, Diann! She is looking fine, my prayers remain with both of you while waiting for best news. Your embroidery is very pretty and I am sure it is helping you during this difficult time. Have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to your mom for a speedy recovery. And you are wise to stitch during stressful times.
ReplyDeleteI’m so happy that your sweet mama is recovering nicely and that you will both be safe and healthy! Cute embroidery! Yes, slow stitching is very therapeutic! Praying for you all!
ReplyDeleteYay for successful surgery. May she have a quick recovery!
ReplyDeleteSuch good news that your mum's surgery went well. May she recover with each new day. Love that in the most stressful of times hand stitching calms the mind and helps with the stress. Love your sweet, little bear
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of Mom's fall. I sure hope her recovery from Covid and from the hip surgery goes well.
ReplyDeleteAdorable stitchery. Hang in there, your mom looks great, glad everything went well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update and glad it's good news. Now to get rid of the Covid.

So glad to hear the surgery was a success and she is on the road to recovery. Lots of stitching should help ease some of that stress. Hoping she tests negative soon and you don't come down with it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a stressful time for you and your mom. I’m happy she was able to have the hip repaired and hope her recovery goes well. I have had to wear all that gear when visiting my dad when he was in the hospital a few years ago. It is very hot! Good to have something to stitch while you sit with your mom. ReplyDeleteStitchin' therapy indeed! So glad to hear surgery went well and that she was able to be up already! I am a little surprised they even let you in the room with covid present. Hang in there!!

ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased your Mother is progressing so well, although I did wonder if the surgery would go ahead as she had Covid. As well as stress stitching, perhaps you need a glass of wine too, or in my case, a nice hot coffee from a cozy cafe!
ReplyDeleteSo relieved your mom's surgery went well and I"m sure you are too! Sending hugs! Good time to do stitch therapy! Sending hugs and prayers for a continued recovery for mom! Hugs!
