Bits and pieces of orange

Crumb Hearts was finished up last weekend, a Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt that I started in 2021 with lots of little bitty scraps.

A few more details can be found in my Tuesday post, here.

That freed up my sewing time for working on this year's RSC blocks in this month's color, orange.  I started with a couple of chandelier blocks.  These were started last year, too, and I've been adding two more each month for a total of four in each color.  I'm not sure I shared last month's purple chandelier blocks, so they're also in the photo.

I think I've made all the blocks I'm going to make for this quilt, and it's time to work on layout ideas.  In this picture, the blocks are in columns by color, but I definitely plan to mix them up in the final layout.  I'm using a photo from Pinterest for inspiration, and it leads to this post at Mary Quilts.  I just noticed she has 32 blocks in her quilt,  so maybe I need two more.

I also made the two orange blocks for Masala Box this week.  One is in bright, popsicle, orange, and the other is in darker, pumpkin oranges.

And here they all are on the design wall - sixteen so far.   Although Preeti's pattern calls for 25 blocks, twenty blocks will make a 48 x 60 throw quilt, so that may be where I'll end up stopping.  I love these blocks and the look of the quilt already!

Little bits of progress are really starting to add up!

  6. Lovely orange blocks!! I won some Chandelier blocks in our guild drawing a few months ago, I need to figure out what I am doing with them. The colors are quite wide in scope, so not sure they work together. LOL. I love the Cliff Richard version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0cPOOibDEg

  9. I have a bunch of chandelier blocks somewhere. I should pull them out and count how many I've got and get them sewn together.

  10. "Little bits of progress add up", you are so right. Each month we merrily stitch our RSC blocks, and then, we finally have enough for a quilt. It doesn't matter if a project is carried over till the next year, it's a fun, no stress way to sew, and we can fit RSC around other projects. Your marsala blocks look great!

  15. Seeing all your blocks is like seeing a rainbow multiple times! Each block is sure beautiful and when you share the colors together. . .what a WOW! Are you seeing your scrap pile diminish or does it feel just as large as when you began?

  18. Two wonderful block sets. I can't decide which I like better. It may be Masala. But I also like the chandelier blocks a lot. Mary Quilts does such a wonderful job sharing basic patterns. Have you check out her web page? Mary quilts (etc, etc.) I love visiting and getting ideas. It great to see the RSC blocks come together in a quilt.

  19. You are making such a variety of rainbow projects - each as nice as the other. The heart quilt is very sweet and I really like the chandelier blocks. I didn't know that is what they were called. Love the Masala Box quilt. I made one when Preeti first published that pattern and it was fun and simple to make. Well done!
