Good morning - it's Thursday again! These weeks sure seem to zoom by! I'm joining in with "I Like Thursday," hosted by LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color.
I love daffodils, and the ones planted in my garden have not come up this year. So when I found bunches of them for sale at the grocery store, I knew I needed some. These are making me smile!
Even though I don't have any daffodils blooming, there are lots of grape hyacinths out there. It was a fun surprise to see these pop up the other day - I love them, too!
Making me smile in my sewing room is this find - watermelons! I originally bought a yard or so of this to use as the lining for a tote bag, and these scraps have been waiting a long time to be used. I finally have an idea for them - the watermelons will be paired with some text fabric for my April Table Scraps project.
We enjoyed watching the Ken Burns documentary about Benjamin Franklin on PBS on Monday and Tuesday nights. I knew Ben Franklin was a printer, scientist, inventor, and diplomat, but there was a lot I didn't know about him. It was pretty interesting!
Hope you've been having a great week! Be sure to check out the positive posts over at Not Afraid of Color!
Our daffodils hit peak probably last week. Nothing says Spring more than daffodils in my opinion. Love your store-bought ones on that beautiful table runner. Spring has sprung right there on your table!
ReplyDeleteWe have grape hyacinths here and there in our yard; I'm always surprised when I come across them. I was the same way about Ben Franklin -- lots I never knew, a complex man.
ReplyDeleteMy daffodils have come and gone. The redbud is blooming, and the azalaeas are budding out with the promise of blooms in a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI've not seen daffodils yet, but the red buds are blooming. Love that watermelon fabric. That should make a fun table scrap project.
ReplyDeleteThose daffodils really fit the spot with your pretty runner! Our azaleas area already fading - wish they would last longer. Can't wait to see your watermelon Table Scraps project - that is pretty fabric.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how many varieties of Daffodils I have - I wonder if your bulbs were eaten? I have a little of the grape hyacinths and I never have remember planting them, I think they washed in as some things do in my yard. The weeping cherry tree will be blooming any day now - a lot of things are a little late blooming here this year.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see your TSC supplies. I'm also intrigued. I've been working on mine. I think I didn't plan enough! Now the project is getting bigger than I had thought it would be! Such is creativity......at least in my sewing room.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your daffodils will come up! They are just waiting for the right time and for the weather to be perfect!! Besides Easter is a 10 days away!
Oh! I'll be looking forward to seeing what happens with your TSC texted watermelon, Diann! :o))
ReplyDeleteOh your pretty bouquet makes me smile. How can that sunny yellow not make you happy. Can't wait to see your project with those fun fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThose daffodils are so pretty on your table and runner! The watermelon fabric is perfect for placemats, such cute fabric. We enjoy just about anything by Ken Burns. I'd really like to see his quilt collection!
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking I should plant some daffodils but I haven't succeeded for the last 5 years .... I think I'll check the grocery stores....
ReplyDeleteLove that cute watermelon fabric. It will look really cute with the word graphics. Hum, I missed the Ben Franklin program but I'll catch it on PBS Passport -- it sounded really interesting to me too.
Your embroidered pieces are so pretty and also the finishes you showed in the last post. Grape Hyacinths in spring purples, tiny but a lovely pop of colour esp. this time of year. Very cute fabric too Diann. I will have daffodils soon but not too soon I hope as we often get a late bout of freezing rain that takes them. But spring is afoot here too!
ReplyDeleteHi Diann! Do you think your daffodils are just not up yet? It's unusual that they didn't return from last year unless the squirrels dug them up. The pretty grape hyacinths just make me smile! It's a pleasure to see them. I think I forgot to comment on your Tuesday post but I just LOVE that zigzag table runner. It's so darn pretty . . . and why I never to think one like that for myself just boggles my mind. Thank you for the reminder! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteThose daffodils are beautiful. I bought some but they never opened. I like your watermelon fabric.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know their name but these precious and petite purple posies are just picture-perfect. Ok, that was my alliteration for the week. But seriously, I picked a few on my walk the other day and put them in an old pill container :-) Love the spring colors and temps too.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Ben Franklin on pbs... well done again Ken Burns
ReplyDeletegrape hyacinths... nothing much grows in our area of Colorado... we just keep humoring the trees as they have a hard time surviving but I like that you share your spring blossoms with us
