Happy Thursday, and Happy Halloween Week! I had to raid my mom's sock drawer for some festive socks this morning. These just make me smile!
And because it's pumpkin time, I finally cut open the little pumpkin I grew in my garden and roasted it in the oven.
Then I mashed up the pumpkin and made my favorite pumpkin bread recipe, Pumpkin Orange Bread, from Carole at From My Carolina Home.
Carole's recipe doesn't call for chocolate chips, but Mike suggested we add them,
and the bread is very yummy that way!
My page turner for the week is Elin Hilderbrand's latest book, Golden Girl. It's a really good story!
This rose has been blooming over at my mom's place for the last several times I've been over to visit her. This photo was taken on Tuesday, October 26th! Wow!
And, finally, I've been having fun playing on my design wall this week. While working on the pieced border for my Halloween (Autumn) Jubilee, I also put up some of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks. Just playing with some possibilities!
More about these in my weekend posts!
Thanks for visiting on I Like Thursday,
Good lookin' stuff on your design wall! Seeing your socks reminds me it's time to get mine out.
ReplyDeleteHalloween is coming up way too quickly! Love the socks and the pumpkin bread looks yummy. I made a banana one last night with choc. chips and pecans. The design wall looks great.

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteLove the socks...so cute! Your Pumpkin Orange bread looks so yummy, I can almost taste it. The rose is beautiful...I haven't got a late blooming rose...I'll have to see if I can find one to plant for next year. I really like your design wall...and what's on it. Those hearts are so cute. Have a great day!
Funny how chocolate chips suit so many of these loaf type breads.:) But how neat to use your very own pumpkin. Love to see you design wall and all those pretties on it...so many possibilities.
ReplyDeleteHi Diann! Halloween socks!!! Geez, I have some and never think to wear them. Thank you for the reminder. I'll pull them out for tomorrow at school and this weekend for the littles. They will get a kick out of them, I'm sure. YUM - pumpkin bread. And Elin Hilderbrand - I love her books but they always make me cry. Good stories! {{Hugs}} and happy Thursday to you. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteFun socks! My oldest grandson loves to wear weird socks, which surprised me. I have a couple of pumpkins to process, perhaps tomorrow. I will need to check out the pumpkin bread recipe. Today was refrigerator pickled beets. Lots of fun blocks on your design wall.
ReplyDeleteExcellent socks. Chocolate and pumpkin go great together! I like what's on your design wall.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love seeing those rainbow hearts! Wow is right on the rose! We have them still blooming here, but that is normal; they go into November, just love that. I took some pics of my impatiens today which are still just fabulous. I am off to check out that pumpkin bread recipe, yum, oh, and I like those fun socks! It made me grin imagining you raiding your mom's sock drawer.
ReplyDeleteI hope your Mom doesn't mind you raiding her sock drawer - lol! I just love bi-color roses like that one, that is beautiful. Your design wall looks very inviting, as does that pumpkin bread! Looks like you are having a good week. :)
ReplyDeleteMy eye was really drawn to the rainbow hearts - great idea! I'll have to take a look at that recipe; it sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Those socks rock! I'm sure the pumpkin bread was tasty, and it was fun to see your design wall full of those glorious blocks, too! I'm trying to remember if I've read any of that author.
