It's always fun to share a finish that's full of color and has been so fun to work on! I finished up these color gradient blocks in March, earlier this year.
After choosing Kona Aloha for the sashing and getting the quilt top sewn together:
This week the quilting was completed, and I have a finish! I used the same rainbow striped fabric for binding that was used for my last quilt finish, here.
Before washing and drying.
After washing and drying, this quilt measures 40x40.
I would love to donate this to a children's charity - does anyone have a recommendation for a group that would take a quilt this size? Until I decide where this quilt should go, I threw it on the footstool of my red Ikea chair. And isn't that fun?!
I think a quilter lives here!

It's such a fun quilt and that Aloha solid is just perfect. I'm sure this will make the recipient very happy.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt and might have to make one as well when I join the RSC! I love the aqua color with this and thanks for telling us the name of the fabric! I wouldn't have thought of using the aqua sashing but it is perfect! Not sure about a children's charity right now. All the ones I know of are on hiatus through the pandemic. There was a group collecting quilts for children impacted by the wildfires out west but I think they stopped now. I'll keep an eye out for you! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove the aqua! You shouldn't have trouble finding a place for it.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful finish!!! Great job, Diann. Love the slightly darker solid cornerstones you used. They're there but not in your face. Do you have a Project Linus group in your area? My guild donates all sizes of children's quilts with them and recently made another drop off. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely finish to a cheerful piece. Very uplifting...
ReplyDeletehugs, Julierose
I love the quilt and the way you quilted it in the grid is perfect for this quilt. One day I need to start making quilts for donation I have sometimes over the years but not for awhile since postage is so expensive
ReplyDeleteAnd that binding is just the perfect one! I hope you bought a bunch of it, LOL. You could check with your local Nicu unit to see if they need/are excepting.
ReplyDeleteThat aqua is just beautiful! What a fun little quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great finish, Diann and I LOVE the aqua sashing and border.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute Diann! I love the gradients, and the sashing is such a great color. It's a little bigger than Jack's Basket usually wants, but you could ask because it's such a darling little quilt.
ReplyDeleteOh, Diann the gradient quilt has turned out WONDERFULLY. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWow, a perfect finish! I love the gradient blocks, the Aloha sashing, the binding and the quilting! Someone is going to be very lucky to receive it! Quilts for Kids would take this size, but you’d need to see if there’s a group in your area.
ReplyDeleteI donate mine to the Peds ICU where I worked for 40 years. Most people know about neonatal ICUs, children’s cancer and cardiac units, but don’t realize there is a need to care for kids with every other kind of diagnosis. Our unit takes care of babies up to 21 years of age! They love getting them and I am blessed by providing some joy for them!
ReplyDeleteLove how that quilt turned out!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt. Do you have Project Linus in NZ? If so, this is an ideal size for that organisation. If not how about children’s ward at your local hospital? Or Women’s Refuge for the children?
ReplyDeletesuch pretty colors in this, love aqua sashing
ReplyDeleteThats lovely! I'm sure you will find the right place to donate this quilt.
ReplyDeleteI just love the gradient look you've gotten here! Absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out super cute! I love the diagonal quilting for this design. It really makes the blocks stand out and emphasizes the smaller squares. Great job! :)
ReplyDeletePerfect choice to put the turquoise color in the center and as the background. Very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh Diann, this is such a lovely quilt! Are there any charities, etc. putting out calls for quilts for families displaced by the wildfires?
ReplyDeleteIt looks so different after quilting and washing. I'd check to see if you have a Project Linus collection site or tuck it away until Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict does her Hands2Help project in the spring. She always has at last one group looking for kid quilts.

Diann this turned out SO beautifully. I just love it. It really looks good there on your footstool!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt turned out great! I am such a fan of aqua and turquoise right now, so of course I love your sashing. I am using that color for scrap quilt I'm working on. Any chance there's a Ronald McDonald house in your area? Or a womens' shelter? Our guild donates to both here in the states.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice idea, to donate your lovely bright quilt to a children's charity! I can recommend Quilts for Kids, having worked with them for years. The quilts go to children in hospitals. They are online at quiltsforkids.org. They are physically located in Pennsylvania. Also, as others have said, Project Linus is a good organization. Jack's Basket requests quilts a little smaller (36 in. x 36 in.) because they need to fit in a basket for delivery to the families, but it never hurts to ask!
ReplyDeleteWow, another beautiful quilt finished!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing it on your red stool! There's something so happy about turquoise and red. I just read about Nancy's quilts she took to Jack's Basket; that might be a good place to send it.
ReplyDeleteLovely finish! I've never tried a gradient type of block. I'm pretty sure I'm gradient-challenged!
ReplyDeleteThat little quilt just glows! And makes me want to make another quilt of those blocks. I really do love how they turn out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
Oh, be still my heart!!! This is the cutest and most colorful baby quilt ever!!! What a simple but fantastic design!!! Love your quilting, too, Diann!!! I'm sure JB would take it.
ReplyDeleteTHis quilt looks so amazing with the sashing and border fabric you chose. It also looks perfect with the red foot stool.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! The quilting is really beautiful, the blocks are gorgeous, etc. etc. Do you have a homeless shelter that accommodates families together? We do in our area, so that’s where I like to give smaller quilts.
ReplyDeleteI love how you arranged the color values and picked such a fun dashing and border color. Some child will love it when you decide to give it away. But for now it looks fantastic on your chair.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous finish!!! Spectacular quilt. Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteOh not any quilter, but a very prolific and a talented quilter lives here :-)
Hugs to you.
