Slow Stitching this week

The other day I spent a little time stitching outside.   I don't do that very often, and I really enjoyed it.

Here's where I was, outside the cancer center at our hospital, waiting for Mike to finish up his appointment.  (No worries there, a 90 minute appointment for his infusion every 3 weeks, and he will be better than ever by next spring! :)

So this week, all the snowmen and snowflakes are finished.

They're meant for this tabletopper from Gail Pan's book.  I think I'll need to do some stash enhancement in order to have enough reds for it.  Then it will turn into a Christmas gift for someone!

Finishing up the snowmen meant I needed to find the next slow-stitching project!  So I prepped some fabric and traced of few of these sweet designs that came from a website called Wooden Spool Designs.

They don't look like much yet, but I'll have fun
adding color to these designs!

  1. Love your embroidery! Are you going to order fabric online? I had a really good experience with fat quarter shop and missouri star. Have a wonderful day and keeping Mike in our prayers!

  2. Your snowmen are looking fabulous. I recognize the next stitchin', I need to get back at mine only a couple left to stitch. Not sure what I want to do with mine. Do you have it figured out what you are doing?

  4. Your snowmen look fabulous. Hand stitching whilst waiting for a loved one receiving medical treatment is always good for keeping one's mind busy. I hope with each treatment your Mike begins to feel better. Your new stitching designs look fun.

  6. glad Mike's treatments are going well. Love the Santa's that you are making. I had some redwork santa's that I started last year and haven't picked them up in ages!

  7. Cute little snowmen :) I'm glad to hear that your husband is doing ok with his treatments. I've thought of you two often and wondered how he was, but didn't want to ask.
I bought the supplies for trying Sashiko; I thought I could work on it while hubby had his doctor appointments- well, you know that didn't happen. So, right now, it just sits waiting for me.
The only sewing I've managed to do is making masks for some of the grandkids and cool ties for the next door neighbor woman who has been mowing my lawn in this dreadful heat. I'll get back to quilting one of these days. In the meantime, I'll keep reading others' blogs :)

At some point, could you post about your fabric prep for hand embroidery? What type of fabric? What markers? Do you stabilize?

  12. Those snowmen are adorable! I haven't done any sewing outdoors - I never think to do that. Your little spot looks so inviting and comfy. Glad you are able to do that while you wait for Mike!

  14. Those snowmen are really cute.
I love to sit and stitch in my yard -- when it's not to hot or mosquito-y. I often bring my phone and listen to podcasts.

  15. Your redwork came out lovely! I enjoyed a visit Wooden Spool Designs. Like you, I take hand stitching, or even crocheting, to doctor's appointments. I pray your husband continues to make progress.

  17. I am glad you could do some hand stitching outside. It has been much too hot here. It must be the snowmen - they make everything cool :-) Wishing good health to Mike and you. Hugs.

  18. You’ve finished those snowmen in record time! They will make a wonderful gift! Aren’t Gail Pan designs great! I like them. I’m working slowly on a Jenny of Elefantz design now, it’s taking forever. I can’t stay focused,
Best of thoughts to Mike and to you!
