Some Slow Stitching for a Sunday

After finishing my Book Club Hand-pieced Quilt, I went back to the Kathy Schmitz embroidery design I started a few weeks ago.   It has been the take-along stitching that accompanied me to the parking/ waiting lot when my husband goes in for his cancer treatment and I have to stay out.

Last time I brought a Starbucks treat, too!  :)

Once I started working on it nightly, it didn't take long to stitch the design.


I think Kathy intended for the heart to be stitched in blanket stitch, but I decided to go with a chain stitch because I need practice on that one.

I'm getting my stitches to be more consistent, I think!

I'm not quite sure how I'll finish this one off yet, so I put it off to the side and traced something new to embroider.   I've been wanting to start a new project from Gail Pan's Patchwork Loves Embroidery, Too, so I traced a couple of snowmen for a Christmas tablerunner pattern.

Four snowmen are needed for her pattern from the book, 
but I've just traced these two to work on so far.

    I always forget to ask how your husband is doing. I hope he has his strength back from his surgery and is feeling better. I bet it feels odd not to go with him during his treatments.
    I like the chain stitch instead of a blanket stitch on that heart. Enjoy your slow stitching day!

    do the treatments last very long? that would be such a wait in a car if it is. I hope he isn't feeling sick from the treatments. - good idea to have a cold drink while you wait

    I can't envision blanket stitch for the heart; chain is much better in my opinion.

    Your stitches are looking great! Love the chain stitch for the heart. I keep printing off embroideries from Jacqueline Steves sight but I have yet to stitch them. Hope your hubby is having lots of good days through the treatments.

    Your chain stitch looks great its the one stitch I need to work on more. Your progress on the Gail Pan snowmen looks good. Good thoughts are sent for you and your husband as he under goes treatment.

    You have your own little stitching retreat while you wait - how fun is that?! Hope things are going well for him as he goes through this, and that you are doing okay with it too. Such pretty handwork!

    Hoping your husband is doing well. Your finished embroidery is very pretty and I like the heart with the chain stitch. I am looking forward to watching you work on that snowman table runner. So cute.

    Sending very best wishes to your hubby as he undergoes his cancer treatment, always a trying time, made worse by the current pandemic situation, I expect. Pretty stitcheries, it's always good take something to work on while you are waiting, or even a good book!

    Your chain stitched heart turned out beautifully. Embroidery is a great take along project. Enjoy slow stitching on your snowmen. That's a nice project to keep cool with during the summer heat.

    Somehow I missed the part about cancer treatments for your hubby. Bah humbug! Hope it is going well! I’m a cancer survivor, so I’ve been there! My sister finished her chemo just before the lockdown! Now, it’s so different and must be difficult not to be sitting beside him helping to pass the time! Stitching his a good remedy. Happy thoughts and good wishes to you both!
