So... inspired by Angela's "Coronacation" houses, and Turid's "Making Us Laugh" blog hop hot pad, and these scraps on my cutting table -
I just played. Meet the "Cat in the Turquoise Log Cabin!"
Just a mini - about 7 x 11 inches.
A strip of this and a strip of that to make the cabin,
with some flowers growing outside.
And since it was a gloomy, rainy/snowy day when I was making this -
the perfect sky fabric!
Polka dots for the backing - so fun!
Since this little guy really makes me smile, I decided to hang him on my fridge so I would see him every time I walk by!
Along the way, I finished up all the teal/turquouse/aqua HSTs I needed for this row of the zigzag project.
And that turquoise color gradient block, too.
I've made nine of these blocks now.
So I guess I've accomplished a few things this week!

What a fun mini cabin. I also like the idea of putting it on the fridge. I hope to Create something this weekend. It’s been weeks due to the world and our world turning upside down. Stay healthy and safe.
ReplyDeleteYes, you did! Love the little cat house. I have that sky fabric, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling house! And since you have to stay in the house, might as well play and make happy things. :) Love your gradient blocks.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute mini, would make a great placemat design for my Corona-cation Placemat Challenge.
ReplyDeletethey are all so nice and colorful and cheerful! we really need cheerful right now don't we
ReplyDeleteAdorable house hot pad, Diann. I made the zig zag set last year and it is not assembled into a top yet!! Have a great week and stay well.
ReplyDeleteYour little mini is so cute! Nice to have it where it makes you happy, too. Stay healthy!
ReplyDeleteFor someone who was just 'playing', you accomplished a lot... and it all looks GREAT!
ReplyDeleteI too have been having a hard time concentrating. But at least I got the machine out. Your cat in the house made me smile...your job is done😊
ReplyDeleteNice job on working thru some of your TEAL/turquois/aqua scraps this week, Diann!! Cat House? TOO cute!! Playing is just what we all need wight now. A little bit of fun in the face of a Global health crisis. Your Zig Zag, and gradient blocks look AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteYep, those little houses are so tempting, and are definitely on my “someday” list. Your little house is so cute with the kitty in residence. I love all your blocks, but those gradient blocks are just amazing. I was going to type “to die for”, but given the current pandemic, that would be a poor choice of words. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteYou've accomplished so much! I'm hoping to get more done next week now that all the patients in our family are being released from hospitals and cared for by their kids. Thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWOW you have so many lovely blocks going on for RSC--great and inspiring works:)))
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of hanging a little piece on the fridge..adorable
Stay safe hugs, Julierose
You are such a productive RSC er, Diann! I haven't done a single RSC related thing this week. Maybe I will today or tomorrow. I love your little lizard (or iguana?) magnets holding up your cheery house mini. CUTE!
ReplyDeleteThe pussy in the log cabin is so cute, no wonder you want him close by! Love your other projects too.
ReplyDeleteYou have been a busy girl!!! Love all the teal! My dad died on Wednesday, so my mojo disappeared and there are so many other things I have to deal with. I do enjoy seeing what you have created!
ReplyDeleteLove that house! Looks like you are all caught up!
ReplyDeleteOk, I am loving all your RSC blocks this year. So creative and they look great together. I too am having a hard time concentrating. I had all day yesterday.... did I do any sewing? Nope. Just not in the mood. I did crochet a little though.
ReplyDeleteYou did great! A lot of projects, and all of them are beautiful. Love the mini, on the fridge ;))
ReplyDeleteI would say you have accomplished quite a bit! I'm in love with the HST quilt! It's so pretty and will be in the end! I know what you mean about concentrating. I've had a hard time concentrating and have only managed a few small projects lately! I hope you stay safe!
ReplyDeleteYour cat in the house mini definitely wins the prize for bringing out a smile. Great idea to put it on your frig. All of your blocks are so colorful and cheery - perfect!
ReplyDeleteRainbow projects and a cute house mini for the win. Love all of it Diann. Keep sewing and making things - it is a great diversion during these surreal times.
ReplyDeleteI thought I would be sewing like crazy, but I've had a difficult time getting my mojo going. Of course, updating my website had a bit to do with that. Yesterday I just made something new. I had intended to work on UFOs, but my heart just wasn't in it. Love the little log cabin, and, of course, the cat! Wilbur highly approves. Your rainbow blocks are so cheerful and fun. I'm so grateful I have a love of quilting and sewing during these days. By the way, we just finished binge-watching the first (we think) season of The Stranger, and liked it.
ReplyDeleteCute little mini. I want to make another gradient color block quilt. I really enjoyed making those blocks. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteI love that kitty in the cabin quilt!
ReplyDeleteI sure understand not feeling the mojo. I used to get that way about snow days. Ah a day I can sew all day and then, poof! The day would be gone and I had gotten nothing done. It seems to me you got a LOT done. The little turquoise house is great. And how fun to have it somewhere you can see it every day. Enjoy your sewing time.
ReplyDeleteVery cute cat!!! Gorgeous colorwash effect in your blocks!!!
ReplyDeleteYour "cat" house brings a bit of whimsy to these gloomy, scary days. There are so many cute house blocks out there, I'm wondering if a bunch of them could be combined into a neighborhood. Something to ponder while I get back into sewing now that we're home from our travels.
ReplyDeletePat
Your "cat house" is adorable and you certainly had the perfect teal fabric for the back. Now where did you find the gecko clips?? I NEED those!! Lol! Love the Zig Zag too. It's going to make a pretty quilt.
ReplyDeleteOh ...the kitty quilty mini is so cute! How did I miss this until now? Are you Zooming with us tomorrow, Diann? ... Hope so ... :) Pat
ReplyDeleteThis is the sweetest little DrEAMi ever! I think the reason why I have let myself chase so many squirrels this month is because of the joy that it gives me which clearly you get.
