A couple small finishes

I have to show one more picture of my Crabapple Hill SAL finish.  There was a lot of pink in this project, so I bound it in green, and I like how that looks!

It now lives on the wall down in my sewing room where I can enjoy it everyday.

This week I also finished another project from Patchwork Loves Embroidery, by Gail Pan.  The embroidery was finished in August of last year.

Although the book shows this design made into a tote bag, I decided this would make a great zipper pouch for a friend who does lots of hand sewing.  So I sewed two panels for the front and back of the pouch.

After I did some simple quilting to hold everything together, and sewed in the zipper, the pouch was a quick finish!

The black and red fabric that I used for this project is a Jo Morton line, and I loved the selvage from it.

I don't know if you can see, but it says, "Life's a journey not a race."

Switching gears for slow-stitching this week, I'm ready to start on the first block of the Book Club Hand-Pieced QAL, "Evelyn."

I'm going to be making the blocks for the QAL out of a variety of red prints with Kona Snow for the background.

Sharing at Quilting is more fun than Housework for Oh Scrap! and

  2. The Crabapple Hill SAL is so cute; you did a wonderful job on it. And the little bag you made for your friend was such a great idea.. I can see that you're really enjoying the embroidery projects. ALMOST wants me to dive back in and do some myself... ALMOST. For now, I'll just enjoy seeing what you're doing.

  3. Wow! Love the finish on your SAL. Fits right in on your wall with other loved projects. That pouch is sweet and it sure is nice of you to make it up for a friend. I've got some of that Jo Morton fabric too only in a different color way. You can't go wrong using her fabrics (in my book!). Have a great weekend!

  4. Oh Love this Crabapple piece so much, Diann. Wonderful choices for the borders. Your sewing room wall is inspiring. I'm so impressed when people can sew useful things like a pouch which is also very cute. And your Book Club block looks ready to go there and reds and whites always make a striking combination. Always lots of happy stitching to be seen here!

  25. All of your minis are adorable!! I love the strawberry! And the finished embroidery piece, so sweet. I know I can't join in the hand along, which I would do by machine, but I am so tempted. But Wedding Toppers, must finish those!
